I've been on the road for a week now and long over due for throwing a shout out just to say I may be in the area of several of you miscreants and reprobates

    This trip has several purposes:
Meet the gf for her niece's wedding is the titled goal.
Calm the jonesing I've been suffering to ride out west again (the last trip was in 09, and I'm way overdue).
Advance my campaign of riding every paved road that crosses the continental divide in the States (I've already covered Canada).
Continue the quest of reaching 200,000 miles on the VFR (which I hope to do at WDGAH in September).

I'm in New Mexico at the moment just north of Santa Fe, heading for the wedding in Santa Monica on June 1.
Today I'll be playing on NM continental divide crossings (north of I-40)
Tomorrow into AZ with a family visit south of Phoenix on Sunday (Casa Grande if the weather is not too hot).
Wednesday I'll be in Riverside and Thursday in Santa Monica.
After Sunday I'm back on my own and heading north to Portland, before starting east via southeast Washington, Lolo Pass, Yellowstone, and Colorado Springs.

I have the month of June for the return, so there's lots of leeway on the timing.

Give a holler if you want to meet up and ride, or (heaven forbid) force me to drink a beer and tell stories.

I'll post up some pics and road tales from time to time.

Depending on what time you are passing thru, feel free to give me a holler if/when you are in the San Diego county or southern Orange County. I live in San Clemente if you should need any repairs or a place to rest.

    Happy trails...

Watch out for Long and Stuke. They are sexual deviants and are quick to pounce on weary travelers. I don't think you are coming far enough north to worry about it but the bridge over the Skadgit River on the I-5 in Washington State collapsed last night. If I was not heading out to a wedding myself beginning of June, I would ride down to meet you for a brew.

    Ride safe

They must be ex-navy too, my kind of people!

Shame though, I won't be dipping that far south.

Isn't Riverside just about an hour from San Diego?

Possibly true, depending on time of day, but I'll be approaching Riverside from the north.
I'm applying my usual, less than direct routing tendencies, and leaving Phoenix Monday morning and heading for the LA basin via the north rim of the Grand Canyon.

I spent today checking out Canyon de Chelly National Monument and Petrified Forest National Park. Both great places, but the nod goes to Canyon de Chelly.
