I'm in south central PA near Gettysburg and I have yet to see a 5th gen VFR within a 100 miles. The only Interceptor I saw was a an old one for sale at a yard sale 4 years ago (before I knew what it was).

Everywhere I go I see people stop and look at mine with a strange look on their face. It's like the see it and think the themselves...what is that? Is it not a common bike seen on the road? It's nice to have a ride that you don't see every day I guess.

Here I see sweet bugger all, its only every now & then I spot any type of model VFR. I know there are a few out there. Like you, I kinda of like the idea that their not a dime a dozen.

A VFR sighting around here is rare. I mainly see cruisers (Harley), next come sport bikes, next is everthing else which includes touring bikes (GoldWing), dual sport bikes and the VFR.

You need to get out to the country more, to me VFRs are like butts nearly every group of tourers or sportsbikes seem to have one, excluding large groups of HD's and BMWs of course.

I guess I must be one of the few who actually gets to see a fellow VFR owner on almost a daily basis. My first ride out this year was doing some toodling around in town and I came across 3 fellow VFR owners at the local Starbucks while I was in the mall getting some stuff for the wife. We talked for about 20 minutes and John, Gerard and Steven had oddly never even heard of VFRWorld. Naturally I felt it my duty to educate them about this fantastic site. Just about every time I check my local internet classified site there seems to be at least 3 VFR's of varying years for sale so I would assume that there are quite a few of them here in Kelowna.

Last year, my son Liam and I went to a classic car show in Peachland (about 25 km's south of where I live) and since it was such a nice day, we decided to take the bike and no sooner had we pulled in to the parking lot when a guy walked over and said there was a motorcycle only lot one street over. The show organizers had set aside a lot for bikes only because a number of bikers had complained the year before that parking for bikes in general was a pain and one guy's bike was vandalized (knocked over). The parking lot had its usual class distinctions (Harley's on one side, metric cruisers on the other and everything else in between) and when I pulled on to the lot there was a group of 15 or so VFR's. My son tapped my shoulder and said out loud "Hey daddy, there are a whole bunch of bikes just like yours, why don't we park with them." Mostly 5th and 6th gen bikes but there was also a 93 in pearl white, and a blue 2010. Twas a sea of red I tell you, with a little blue, white and yellow mixed in for good measure.

I've never liked owning a bellybutton (everyone has one) for a vehicle. Makes it more fun when you do actually see another one.

I was thinking of heading up to Gettysburg this summer actually. The wife and I usually roll out west to DCL or do the run through Shenandoah... but we're looking at other options.

and most of the cruisers around here rarely wave... jackasses. although a lot of them are probably white knuckled and going to or from starbucks to show off their bike and don't usually go for distance.

Not to confuse the regular sighting of a various VFR Gen on country back roads in different groups of bikes at all common, rather a happy reminder of their versatility to fit in nearly any class and longevity in years and milage.

image.jpg This was my previous bike. Only ever saw one other on the road in the 16 years that I owned it. It was really cool having a rare bike. Always had to explain what it was though. 1993 Yamaha 850 TDM (parallel twin).

I saw an awesome 09 in Iowa with 5500 miles for $5600 on cycletrader. I know it's not exactly what you want or exactly near you but that is an awesome deal and it's kinda close to you. If your feeling charitable you could by it for me and I'll fly out and ride it back to CA. :)
