First, if you have no idea what im talking go here, https://www.dipyourcar.com/ There is a motorcycles section in the forums that has only been alive a few months. Click arond the pictures at the forums a bit, it looks F'ing amazing! Maybe start a dipped my bike sticky somewhere here at VFRW ? No, it's not paint. It's plastic. Someone with a VFR there is supposedly doing his this weekend.
Plasti-dip has been around a long time but only the last few years has it started to be used as an automotive paint. Bikes too! I can repaint my VFR800 in 2 to 3 hours for $25 (from what I've been reading), and I intend on doin this ASAP. A gallon can not be sold to California residents  . It easily peels off when you don't want it anymore. It comes in solids, metallics, pearls, and clear. *It protects the paint underneath. You can buy it at Lowes or Home Depot for $6 a rattle can.

No, i dont work for them and are not spamming. I will be doing my VFR and I will post pictures of the process. I joined their forum and an autobody guy from a town 5 miles away did too just a few days before. In the next couple weeks it seems we'll be rode tripping to Reno to pick up a large order. My only question is Red an Gold or the Black an White the U.S. never got... Okay,
Tell me what you guys think.
Edit; I forgot what may be the best part, no sanding, primer or tape off, given it peels off for tires, seats, exhaust or windscreen with clean lines. For overspray it rubs off with a dry hand towel, like engine cases, exhaust or ???

Where in Reno can you buy this stuff? To bad we can't buy the larger quantity in CA. Reno is only 200 miles from here. It will be a nice ride if I go thru hwy 88, 49 etc. I have to repaint one of my beater bikes. I am willing to give this a try.

I don't know of anywhere specifically, maybe call a few auto paint supply shops. What i've done is pitch in on a fairly large order of most of the different products, $150 worth of a $2000 purchase. That's being shipped to a friend of his that also runs a body shop, in Reno. This will surely happen again. A local auto-body shop owner learned of it a couple months ago and I found him on that Dip forum so I contacted him. It's a crappy grey area Ca. is stuck in given V.O.C. laws, so nowhere here lest the rattle can or 11o.z. un-reduced can from Lowes/H.D A few of those blended with xylene (auto paint supply store) 2 parts P-D to 1 part xylene will work the same but cost a little more...say $60 to paint a VFR body work. I said $25 above but that's a pretty thin coat, just doesn't last as long. Check out the other VFR forum, some guys have posted pictures and process info there.

A little while back I low sided my Duc and broke the right side fairing up pretty bad. I bought a one piece CR style fairing to use temporarily. I didn't want to try and paint it red to match the rest of the body panels so I tried the plasti-dip and painted the other bits and the new fairing black. I left the gas tak alone as I was running out of time and wanted to ride the next day. I have to say this is actually pretty cool and as stated, just peels right off! Technically you can have a different color bike every other weekend if you had the time and money. Other than cleaning the surfaces to be painted, no other prep work is necessary. Here are some photos of what it looks like. I thought of doing the B&W scheme on the VFR that Desmosabe mentioned but ultimately I think doing this with the Duc is as far as I'll probably go, at least for now...

Clean up most things, save Teflon with one of the "Formula 409" type cleaners and ordinary high, semigloss or or matte waterbourne housepaint will do much the same job. Gotta say the spray rigs that this outfit is schlepping is a POS.. Kind of like those Wagners that used to be in Home Despot. Called em "Spit and Dribble".

I now should be able to save a bunch of money on condoms and can sexually express myself through all the various color options. Anyone know if the stuff hurts when peeling it off?

Due to the temperature drop when gas expands, I would strongly suggest any application to private parts be applied with a soft brush rather than by rattlecan or especially airless.

If anyone can locate some of this stuff that is phosphorescent in Kelly Green, this might be a good week among those of Irish heritage.

I added some white to my Ninja with this stuff, just to see if I liked the effect. Here are my observations in no particular order:

1- you want a slick, shiny surface on your paint. Otherwise it won't want to peel off
2- tack coat, medium-wet coat, medium wet coat, medium wet coat. With about 30 minutes between each. You need a thick paint thickness, or it will rip when you are peeling it back off.
3- overspray is a bit harder to get off than you made it sound. Take a extra minute and remove your fairings.
4- if you do something that is not an entire panel, you will need to cut/score along your tape-edge before removing the tape. otherwise, you will pull off the P'dip.
5- Once you roll up a corner, or edge (after it's dry) it will NOT stick back down.

I'll do the white again on this bike in a diff configuration next time, adn after that, will probably scuff and paint for REAL.

For $6/can, it's hard to beat for a fun little change.

A guy I know put some of this stuff on a Harley and the bike quit running. He probably didn't read the instructions before he dipped the air cleaner.

If this stuff sticks to rubber, it looks like it would be an inexpensive method for having a bike with whitewalls.

Hmm. I would love to spray my bike white.....So you could promise it wouldn't eff up the paint underneath when peeling off?

I did this on my Duc when I had put the short CR style fairing on it. It literally peels right off not harm done to the paint underneath. I had a hard time finding the white though, the black was abundant though.

Nice. I'm considering maybe doing my side fairings either white or black. So I get a white/red or red/black color scheme. As cheap as it is I may do this soon.

How many cans did you use?

Look at post #6, the side panels, CR fairing and tail section took 2.5 cans. I accidentally nick one of the rear side panels and had to retouch it. I was going to do the tank but ran out of time, I would imagine it would have taken a whole can alone.
