I'm returning from Florida to nj currently in Annandale Virginia. I've noticed play in the front wheel bearings and am afraid to ride on until fixed. Local honda dealerships are closed or can't get until Thursday. Part # 6004 uu. This is a 1990 vfr 750 f.

Can I get some generic bearings and have a mechanic press them in? 908.627.3570 if you have any ideas my name is Mike. Pgafuture@gmail.com

If you can find the same size bearing they will work just make sure they are same load.

Hey Mike. I'm only about a half hour north of you in Rockville MD. I can certainly put the bearings in for ya if we can get a set. I'mma hit up my locals and see if I can come up with a set now.

Very cool! I appreciate it! I'm at a buddies place which was a scheduled stop anyway so it's best scenario for being stranded.

Honda Rockville md can't get them until Thursday.

Ok, so I struck out on finding a set up my way in stock. Here's a reference chart for some aftermarket ones if that helps any, maybe you can source a set from a different manufacturer :25-1077 All Balls Racing

I just ordered a set for my '01 from All Balls last night and they show that they already shipped. You may check them out and have them over night ship to you. Not the most economical or best solution but just a suggestion.

Just go to a bearing supply company and buy a pair of Japanese made replacements - get the ones with rubber shields on both sides.
6004 is a standard bearing size.

Thanks all for the help & suggestions. I will be trying my best tomorrow to pick up something suitable and I'll likely limp it to Rockville to have you press them in for me, mettalician.

I replaced my 3rd gen front bearings with a set from local industrial supply house. They were stocked on the shelf.

I'm 99%sure it's unrelated but maybe 80 miles before I stopped and noticed the bearings needed attention, a large piece of truck tire re-tred kicked up out from underneath the car in front of me and the bike and I took a hit from it.

There's a skid mark on the lower left fairing and front fork has a scrape. I honestly thought my foot was broken for a bit. I'm walking on it fine now and it's not bruised. My instincts told me to keep it upright as there was not enough time to avoid it. Yes, I was too close for 79 mph. Lesson learned.

The part to ask for is 6004 2RS (2 rubber shields). Nachi, timkin, NTN, or any other jap made (or US made) bearing.

Mike, Motion industries is one of the largest industrial bearing suppliers in the US. Motion Industries - Keeping Industry in Motion I looked up where you are and I think their closest branch is in Manassas. Give them a call in the morning.

Their website has a good branch locator if this one isn't close enough. Maybe they have one close to Metallican in Rockville.

    Good luck.

I've got a brand new set of OEM 3rd Gen bearings and dust seals in my garage and can overnight them to you if needed. Shipping might not be very cheap but you'd have them by Wednesday and could be on the road a day earlier.

Hey pgafuture (I think I meet you once on one of the Pocono rides), You can get the bearing from any Granger store for like < $5 for the pair. I have an extra set but you may be closer to your home than to mine. I will PM you my number.

Okay so I got two 6004 rs bearings. My question now is will these work without the dust seals etc that come with the OEM kit?
