Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to "Marie". Marie is the third and last of my two wheeled loves. I am the original owner. (I still have the canceled check and paper tags  ) (Number 2 is a 1983 VF-750F. I got her with 300 m.)

She was on the road from '86 to '91 and from '96 to '02 and has been in climate controlled storage since '02. She is currently showing approx 24000 m.

It is time to ride again.

I work internationally and my biggest distraction is PWC and boating. If I do not make this happen quickly, waterski season will dominate my attention.

It is rare to see an original owner for a bike of this era. It looks great and appears to be unmolested. You've even got the stock exhaust on it. Welcome to the forum.

What is it about the shop that causes the whole world to interrupt you? I start to work and my friend calls with box tickets to the baseball game. Next was entertaining other friends at the lake. Delays, delays . . . Hopefully something is about to happen.

Yes, I am a bit of a purist. My first bike was a '78 KZ-650. In '81 I put 710 Denco piston, andrews cams, 28mm carbs, ported the head, obvious header . . . It ran hard, but the '81's of the time were faster. I developed the mantra "If you want the fastest, buy the fastest. By the time you build something, your out of date." I bought the '83 VF750 in '84 with 300 miles. It is mostly stock except the header and the clutch. Oh yeah, slicks. It was dominate until '86. I CB-900F's that would refuse to line up. When the '83 started falling behind, I bought the VFR. It wasn't exactly dominate, but it was in the game until around '90. After that, I bought a degree. :) Now days, I have no desire to play. 205 mph on a stock 'busa is beyond my skill.

I need to rebuild the master cylinder on the clutch. (No pressure)
Where is the vfrworld preferred source for parts? Do we get a discount?

Also, I'm going to need to replace the tires before riding.
    I currently run a me-33 (front) and a me-1 (rear)
What is the general agreement on the best tires for an '86 Interceptor?

Very nice indeed. Good friend and Honda mechanic from the '70s & 80s has his original '86 VFR-750 still (seldom ridden, all stock) plus another '86 that has a Hindle 4-1 and other light mods that he rides fairly often. Nice to see those with commitment hold on to something they love!!!!

Welcome!! ...and sweet 2nd Gen.

For my old '86 VFR, I purchased the Clutch Master "Rebuild kit" from my local Honda dealer.

I also installed the Avon Roadriders in stock sizes for the original rims.

As slowbird mentioned, you can buy a kit for the rebuild. Check with your dealer or online.

As far as tires go, I was running the Bridgestone Battlax BT-45 on my older bikes. With the stock rims, I'd try to stay as close to stock tire sizes as you can.

    Greetings Again

Summer is over and I need to get some momentum on this project. Clutch is fixed. Tires are waiting to be mounted.

I have a rust patch in the gas tank approximately half the size of a playing card. I'd like to box it up and send it to a professional to have the rust stripped and the tank sealed.

    Any recommendations?
