Anybody seen/heard/tried the GPR slip-on from Italy? They're pretty inexpensive with Ti body and carbon fiber end cap. Available db killer as well for $30 more. Wondering if anybody has any experience with this one. Ebay clicky

The GPR stuff is good quality and well priced. My Dad has a GPR exhaust on his Varadero and it sounds great.

Check out this video of the GPR exhaust for a VFR800:

Looks like one is sold already. I wonder if it clears the center stand and OEM panniers?

    So I wrote to the seller with several questions. Asked if he had any pics of the pipe installed on a VFR12. Asked if it would clear side cases and had a stop for the centerstand. And asked about the warranty, since one place in his ad said one year, but in another place in the same ad it said two years. I'm guessing English is NOT his first language, but more likely Italian. Here's his reply;

"Hello, warranty is two years, it has the central stop on the link pipe (GPR specific pipe for VFR1200), it is titanium made with exit cap carbon look (mixed aluminium)

It is more little respect the original can,so no problem with luggages , we have not yet the pics on the bike but we have sold many, we can allow a refund of 10% to the client how send back pictures of the item installed"

So apparently the end cap is NOT actually carbon fiber, but rather aluminum (that's how us 'mercuns spell it) made to look like C/F. At $309 USD with free shipping and a claimed weight of just 2.2 kg, it certainly is tempting. I just hate to be the guinea pig. Funny that they "sold many", and yet no one was willing to send them a measley picture to get $30 back. I'd settle for a free db killer myself. I'd feel much better if I could find ANYBODY who'd tried this pipe on a VFR12. His ad says no refunds. Imagine how much fun that could be if it wouldn't clear my side cases, or was pointed directly at them.

Also interesting to note that the ad says the can body is 320mm long. That's a pretty stubby can, kinda like the DAM. Anybody know the length of the DAM can?

Thanks for the info, Dave. Yep, the "carbon fiber" in the ebay ad pics and GPR's website looked might suspicious to me. The reply you got confirmed it. The conical shape means there is no shortening the can if it does not clear my V35. I think I'll just shorten my 2Bro Titanium M5 can. I'm not crazy about the looks, but at least the end cap is genuine magnesium.

A friend had one on his R6 track bike and it was very loud. But it sounded great.

I have the V35s also. But at 320mm length, it's a pretty short can (less than 13") even compared to the stocker. Of course that doesn't tell the whole tale, since you don't know where the mid-pipe leaves off. I may yet be the guinea pig. Still hard to comprehend why they don't have a pic of one installed. Surely they had to trial fit their prototype on an actual bike. Why didn't they take a pic then??

I don't understand either. Let us know if you do get it. I'm in no big hurry to use the V35s yet. I do have a 3-day ride at the end of April, so I'll have to decide on a solution before then.

I don't mind a loud pipe, as I always wear earplugs when riding. But loud pipes are not something I would go out of my ways to get.

Well, I got someone else to be the guinea pig and he sent me lots of pics of the can fitted on his bike, so I pulled the trigger and ordered one. Pretty anxious, as the other guy gave it a pretty glowing review. He'd had one previously on a BMW and was happy with it as well. If anybody's interested, you can follow that thread HERE

The best stuff is on the second page.

I gotta tell ya, I've just about got this bike tweaked now right to where I want it. It just keeps getting better.

I have a 5 gen and bought the gpr deeptone its full stainless shorter thinner and much lighter than the original so mounting any bags isn't a problem and it sounds awsome. I've only gone on one ride since putting it on the bike it is a little loud but not too loud I have the dp killer which I just installed but haven't had a chance to try out yet I will let you know the difference when I get a chance to get out again and I will take some pictures and post as well.

Hot damn!! It's here, so I immediately went to work. According to my bathroom scale (I stood on the scale and held each exhaust over my head), the stock muffler is twelve lbs, while the GPR can and pipes are about four and a half lbs, so almost eight lb weight loss. For the quick comparo first, here are the before and after...

    IMAG1486.jpg

    IMAG1487.jpg

It took a lot of fiddling to get the can exactly where I wanted it. The link pipe is comprised of two corkscrew-ish sections, so there's lots of room for "fiddling". I wanted the line of the can to match the line of the tail and I think I achieved that pretty well. I also wanted the can to point straight back and not outward, which was a little tougher to achieve, but I got it. Clearly plenty of room between the can and the Givi side case (with Givi brackets).

    IMAG1488.jpg

    Center stand stopper is perfect.

    IMAG1490.jpg

Getting the can right where I wanted it required putting the supplied extender bracket and band clamp in a slightly unusual position. I don't think it will stay like this.

    IMAG1489.jpg

Found this chunk of aluminum in the garage...perfect for making a new and much shorter bracket. Then I can slide the band clamp back and I think it will stay there.

    IMAG1492.jpg

It certainly opens up the rear wheel quite a bit.

    IMAG1494.jpg

And in a VERY clever marketing ploy, they send the parts in these nice cloth drawstring bags with their logo on it. One looks to be a perfect size for a helmet bag, the other would hold a bag chair or something about that size. Nice touch and free advertising for them. Clever.

    IMAG1496.jpg

I know, I know...enough with the freakin' pics already...how's it sound??? Well, it's louder than I expected based on Unleaded's review of it, but not obnoxious at all. It's got quite the boom at idle! Again, not obnoxious, I'm just not sure how my neighbors will feel about it at 7 AM when I'm leaving for work. At speed on the road, you're definitely aware something is going on down there, but nothing that would grate on you over time. Just a persistent low grumble. The db killers were shipped separately and haven't arrived yet. I'll probably try one or the other or both once they arrive. I'll update then. I am pretty jazzed though that between the pipe and the Shorai battery, I've shed about 14 lbs off the bike in the last couple weeks. With the luggage and all the other stuff I've added, I figure I've essentially broke even weight-wise. Might even be a couple pounds lighter since the Penske shock was also lighter than its stock counterpart. All in all a good trade.

    Dave,

Great install review! Wish everybody is as description as you are. Pics? We can't get enough of pics! Can looks great with the Givi panniers. I would've seriously considered it if I don't already have the 2Bro.

A little early to render any conclusive verdicts. I will say this...this bike is SO much better than stock it's unbelievable! Being an obsessive/compulsive mechanic means I just HAVE to fix all the things that bug me about a new vehicle, as I won't be happy until I do. I think I'm done!! Honestly, the juice box was such an improvement that I almost don't care if the can is a bigger improvement. Before, I had to make myself upshift on this bike. Now, I'm happy to upshift and just listen to the exhaust grumble and burble at 3k and I know that the power is there waiting for me to twist the throttle. I can tell you this isn't going to do anything good for my fuel economy complaint, but at least now it's the only thing I have left to complain about!! The bike ,is so fucking sweet to ride now I absolutely love it. Smooth fueling at low revs, compliant suspension, tires that stick, and bars and seat that are oh-so-comfy. Stick a fork in me...I'm done!! The bike is an absolute dream to ride now, and I'm a finicky arsehole when it comes to my vehicles. If it got 45 mpg you could shoot me and I'd die happy. Alas, the fuel gauge and fuel economy still suck, but such is life.

Re: the can...I guess I've been riding with a stock exhaust for too long now (fifteen months!) because it sounded loud to me last night. But today, I was just enjoying the ride and the awesome "thump" from that exhaust. Maybe I won't install the db killers after all.

I was absolutely exhausted today (no pun intended), so I slept through most of my lunch hour, but managed to bang out this new hanger in about twenty minutes. I'll work on making it pretty next week when I have more time. You won't mistake it for a machined billet piece, but I think it will do the job. It'll look better next week.

    IMAG1498.jpg

A lightening hole or two and a different finish will go a long way in the appearance dept. Finally, I can love this motorcycle.

That hanger looks great, DD! Glad to hear your thoughts on the Juice Box, although I oughta be cussing you for costing me more money. :frusty::biggrin:
