I use music a lot. I have Chatterbox Blue Tooth set up for the helmet but the quality of sound was poor. The fit wasn't too bad in my Sharke helmet but I tried to put it into my Shoei which fits more snug the ear phones started bugging me pretty quick.

In the ear, ear buds work very well for me. But you may not be able to use just any. As small as they appear to be, depending on the snugness of your lid and the form of your ear, they may be uncomfortable in short time for you as well. But not all buds are the same.

I have found that the Panasonic fit about the best. You need to determine which of the silicon buds fit the best for your ear. But after 10s of thousands of miles, mine did wear out. I have replaced these with Phillips and they too fit well. They have a built in mic for your phone too. Others I have tried bothered my ears after not too much time even thought they were more expensive ear buds.

I have a few options for where I get the music from, but most times it is all through my Garmin GPS which my phone is Blue tooth connected as well. The flapping cable can easily be dealt with using a twist tie to a zipper or something. The GPS is mounted on the left handlebar just right of the switches so the cable does not get in the way too much.

Now I can really enjoy my ride listening to my favs like Justin Bieber and Celine Dion and my all time favorite best hero, Paul Anka, for hours on end.

    FWIW

for ear buds with wires I picked up a set of Urbuds, the triathlon athletes use because the are guaranteed to never fall out and they don't i'm surprised. I'm on the market for an intercom system for when my GF and I go for trips, and to make it easier. I'm looking at the Sena units they seem to be more glove friendly then the G4 or G9's even if they don't have all the features

If you are serious, I will give your kind offer some thought. I have had similar offers from harleydoods. The last one wanted me to scan in every page from my collection of Oprah Magazines in trade. He even wanted to have me toss in any duplicate copies. No Way!! I use those as jacket liners for cold weather riding.

Sena, with custom made in ear monitors from Westone. They plug into the Sena while music comes from my MP3 player that is directly plugged in or from my phone via bluetooth thro the Sena.

When I don't want to listen to music, the monitors do an outstanding job as just earplugs. Plus, with my phone linked up with my Sena, I don't miss any important calls....like from the wife, "When are you going to be home?" lol

Those are important calls because you often lose track of time and that can call you back to earth and say oh shit I've been riding for 4 hours and i'm almost out of gas, better fill up and head home ... not speaking from experience or anything, I only have a girl friend, not a wife.

So with all this cool stuff that's out there, is anyone making a Karaoke app for those group rides?

A good friend users uClear. Bluetooth to his phone. His bike is pretty loud and he can make phone calls with no problems. Open speakers in his helmet.

Similar setup, slightly different execution. USB plug comes out from under the tank and tucks away when not in use.

Has anyone tried those thingles that the WingDingers and harleydoods use to hold their Starbucks or whilst not in NYC, those 64oz slurpies. Seems to me that a mobile would be easier to read in a knee dragger if it were gimbled.

BTW a thingle is a happy medium between a thingie and a farkle.

Not much response on my karaoke questions. I suppose I'll just have to find one myself. I would love to do some acapella Celine Dion or Jumping Beaver with Randy.

It's true and is available on the new 2013 Harleys. Five gigs of memory too. HD is calling it Anal Retentive.

Shure headphones are pricey but the sound quality is great. I use the foam tips that are pinched and rolled between your fingers before being inserted into the ear and they form a great seal that blocks out all wind noise. Once inserted properly they sit flush with the sides of your ears so there is no issue putting your helmet on or off.

The SE215 is what I am using now. This is my 3rd set of Shure headphones over the past 10 years. I never considered myself an audiophile snob but once I started using a premium set of headphones all the other everyday brands like Sony, JVC, etc. sound like garbage to me.

OK...don't want to be the audio snob in the group, but i work in the live concert sound biz and use the professional in ear monitors every day. The Shures and the Westones both sound great...but the speakers with the Scala G4 sound just as good AND they go on and off with the helmet like they're not even there...even my custom molds can be uncomfortable inside the helmet....the Scalas just barely touch the outer ear (as i mentioned earrlier this is needed for proper bass response) and you get a good blend of engine sound and music

I don't doubt that the G4 speakers sound good but my experience has been that when you get over a certain speed the wind noise makes them useless. The sole reason I use the Shure's in-ear design is because they act as both an earplug and headphone. This might not be a big issue to you but I wear modular helmets and the extra wind makes it almost impossible to listen to music unless I am using in-ear headphones.
