    Hi everyone,

I've been stalking the forum for a while now while I was researching the VFR (6th gen) and I'm ready to buy one. I was wondering what you guys think of the following sale in California:

2006 Used HONDA VFR800 Interceptor Bay Area Motorcycle at SF Moto Serving San Francisco, CA, IID 9877988

I really like the color, and the included givi box. $6k + tax + fees puts the bike right around ~$6800. I'd have to pay tax in private sale anyway, so lets say $6000.

Is this an OK price for the 2006 w/ accessories and 15k miles?

That is high for the bike with scratch and almost 16k miles
Take your time, I would not paid more than 5K. IMO

I agree with Scuba. It does seem high, but they are a dealer. Make them an offer. Everything is negotiable.

Well, I don't want to overstep my boundaries since I'm fairly new to the VFR and this forum but, my first impression is that is too high of a price. Not necessarily that the bike isn't worth it(by the book), but there are certainly way better deals to be had. Be patient. I just bought my '03 with 4k miles on it and it is spotless. The guy said it had never been in the rain and it showed. Point being is that 7yrs old or 10 yrs old shouldn't matter if you're buying it to ride. I gave $3450 for mine. It is basically a new bike, just ten yrs old. I would keep looking. Just be ready to jump when you do find that awesome deal. Seems like $6000 is a dealer price and they are outrageously overpriced. Just my .02

Granted we are on the opposite site of the country from each other, but that is right in line with the price i am seeing on dealer listed bikes that haven't really been selling. Prices over hear in PA are a little on the higher side right now since spring is almost here and the good deals are either not there, or gone in the blink of an eye. I have a gut feeling I will be waiting until fall to pick up my 2nd VFR but i will have a watchful eye for the divorce specials that show up. I would most certainly buy a bike with that mileage if it came with a new chain, sprockets, tires, 16K service with proof of all things done and other things that would deem it as well maintained instead of needs TLC which after you own the bike and price things out comes to an extra 1K.

Since i started browsing a month ago, I haven't seen anything close to the deal I got on my 2003 VFR back in 2010 which was purchased in the fall. Bikes are easier to sell this time of year on the east coast and are not the best time if you are a potential buyer.

That bike is priced way too high especially considering that it does not have ABS Brakes (this is easily determined from the pics since there is no remote suspension adjustment knob just above right passenger peg)

Also unless I am mistaken there is a possibility there will be sales tax on top of that since it is being sold by a dealership. You should easily be able to find a comparable bike with ABS and all luggage (top case and both saddlebags) for the same or less price. Be patient and keep looking and you'll find a better deal!!! Also make sure you get the rear seat cowl which should have been included with every 6th Gen VFR from the dealership.

Agreed - too much. There are several good deals on 6th gens in Central cali/bay area right now. Was going to post links - but maybe just try search tempest.

I think you can find a better deal with better mods. The dealers just take the bikes on trade-in's and slap a 20% profit to the price and sell them..

Too pricey. I got an 07 with less mileage and it was cherry for $4500 out the door AND the dude signed the bill of sale for only $2000 so I could pay less for the registration...$6000 before any of that is kind of a rip, dude. You can find better, cleaner, newer 800s out there. Do a fly and ride, it will totally be worth it when you saddle up for the first time...

I love how the dealer says that this is the first VFR marketed as an "interceptor" I thought they were all interceptors? mine says so on the tail fairing the description is all about how the VTech works and nothing really about the bike itself.....

good luck with the searching.. offer them less and see what happens.. all they can do is say yes or no...

If you spend 10K, you can get a brand new 2010 VFR 1200's.. They are still sitting at the dealership..

Made an offer and it appears they are firm on the price, even offered straight cash!

Its funny you mention bikes sitting on the lot because this one has for about 3 months since I've been looking but the price went up $3 rather than down.

Its weird that there are no bikes in Los Angeles or socal (Where I am). I would have flown up to SF for that bike, particularly because I really like the color.

Unfortunately, The stylings of the bike do not agree with me. I simply do not like the look of it, to put it nicely :( Love the look of the 6th gens though!

OK, I'm gonna go against the grain here. Certainly the guys that own a 6th gen know about the prices, so its probably too high as they've suggested. But its your cash. If you love the bike and just gotta have and don't want to wait, then go buy it, regardless if there are better deals out there.

The straight cash thing makes no difference to the dealer as they get paid immediately anyway, even if you finance it. It only works when someone is selling off the books to save taxes.

There will be more on the market soon, patience is a virtue. There may even be a nice one in our own classifieds.

I just saw a '06 White VFR with the bags, mostly stock, under 6K miles for the cheap....
