47, wife was against it when I picked it up again 7 or 8 years ago, now she rides a WeeStrom and is lovin it.
Nice when the wife knows what it's all about, I have a feeling I'm gonna have to get up earlier this summer to make sure I get out with my VFR.

The first time I posted on this thread I was 63. I checked today and somehow I'm now 66, and will be 67 July 6 of this year. What the f*ck happened??? Must have lost time due to an alien abduction, because there's no way I can be that old.

To be serious, though, the wife and I retired 1/1/2013. We're planning a two month (or however long it takes) two-up trip out west this spring (Southwest, Northern and Southern Kalifornia - Scubalong here we come!, Pacific Northwest, and any and all places in between). We'll be taking the K1200LT, though, not the VFR. It's more comfortable for the wife. Then it will be off to Alaska and Prudhoe Bay in 2014. Still need to get to the Maritime Provinces, too, hopefully later this year, or next year after Alaska. Lots of other shorter trips planned, too. So many roads, so little time! Life is good!

P.S. I'm in the process of upgrading the shock and rebuilding the forks on the VFR. It's still my favorite bike of all time.

    Joner,
Just tell her she is too old to ride with you on your new Viffer!
I'm 59 today and just bought another Viffer, another 07. Red this time. As I split my time between coasts when I am here in the US I keep one at either end so I am never without. The next one will be for the wife as she has dominated the newest 07 and she should have one of her own.
You could always offer to buy your wife one of her own after she calms down from hearing she is too old to ride on the back of yours! Ha!

Look me up when you get to the Pacific North West. If I am away in the fifth wheel, my wife and I will meet you somewhere. But it will have to be in the cages as she has made it perfectly clear she will not ride.

Alright Ricko. Just so we understand. You act like a teenager or behave like a teenager? There is a difference you know.

I'm 39, and just bought my 2nd VFR, a 2010. Actually my first sportbike was a VFR800, in '99/'00 so age has nothing to do with it :D

There is nothing wrong with having a roll model regardless of our age.

man Knife, that sounds like a definate bucket list item for me...enjoy retirement ! :)

I am 54, 55 in May. not riding as much as I used to, but still like to get it on when I can.

I once was talking to a fellow rider,(younger guy) saying I used to ride like that but am older now.

He turned to the others and said, I saw you folks riding in Kona... there's nothing old about you

when you're on your bike. I guess that says it all...

Hi Guys, after reading through the thread I might be (one of) the oldest guy here.
    I"m 62 (almost 63) and just bought my VFR1200X - WITH my wife's encouragement - after riding a TransAlp for 10 years.
The biggest stimulus was the death of one good mate (at 58) and another suffering a severe stroke (at 61).
Life's short, enjoy every day while you can.

PS. I live and ride in Port Macquarie, Australia where, as I write, it's PISSING down - again. Doesn't look good for riding today. Sigh!

I agree with every word, and your words also apply to my VFR1200X. Yes, the sculptor knew what he was doing. It's a beautiful beast - quiet, sure-footed and immensely powerful.

    57 with an 84 VF750f & a 76 KZ900 LTD. Just started riding again 2 years ago,
after a 20 year absence and I'm loving it. My wife loves it because I'm ether out
riding or in the garage working on them ( it never stops) and not bugging her!

I'm 55 and biker since 18. Could live without many things except for two...a bike and my wife, that after all these years together still loves a good ride!
