I have a stock 170 series tire on the back and wanted to know if I could fit a 190 or 200? Can anyone help?

    NO!

180 is the biggest you can go without some serious modifications.

Why do you want a 190 or 200 tire?

Am I mistaken in my understanding the a wider tire also slows turn in? And Bubba is right in his statement. You will run into clearance issues.

What about a nice sounding exhaust, my stock exhaust is a little quiet?

Bigger tires can slow turn in...depending. But I would think on a Viffer a 190-200 tire would make turn in awful. Thanks for giving the link for the exhaust clips too!

    Thacoop:

Just a warning...many exhausts sound cool, but offer no real street benefits.

I have a Two Brothers shot gun exhaust on my 97VFR. Trust me...it sounds cool, but I receive no benefit until the bike is reaching its top end. Since I ride on the street and not the track...well you get the point.

The pipes came on the bike when I bought it, so I am not going to change them.

Anyway, I recommend researching all exhausts and finding one that boosts or smoothes out low end and/ or mid-range power.

On a VFR, all the aftermarket exhausts sound good!

I think you hit it right on the head there. He probably won't notice a big difference except when you hear it the first time. Oh, and they weight he'll notice taking off the old one and putting the new one on. There's also looks. I think every aftermarket can looks a little bettter than stock.

I really wish the stock pipes had the sound aftermarkets do. It is my hope that Honda will someday make their stock pipes like the Supertrapp pipes, where you can take them apart and remove or add baffles for power, sound, etc.

That would be a nice option!
