Don't know but your doing a mighty fine job of it, I've just gotten to the point I've started getting decent gear. Mainly because things hurt more for longer periods of time now that I'm firmly entrenched in my mid 30's( starting to realize I'm not invincible:frown.
Dude, wasnt' being a kid great? You could ride downhill with no tires on your bike rims (my friends said it would look cool & it did), slide out of control, crash into a tree or telephone pole, run crying home to mom, get some stiches & live to do it again next weekend. Now, if I do crap like that, it takes surgery, therapy, Jack Daniels, Percocet and bed rest just to get back to 75% of what I was before I do something stupid. KC-10 FE out... lane:
Your on quite the spending spree lately on gear, I guess that's why you have nine pair of gloves  I just purchased Alpinestar Track Pants, but got them in a color that forces me to get a black jacket :tsk:
I've had my helmet for three years now (HJC AC-11), and just bought some new gloves. Well they are new, still even in the original package but they're a few years old as well. I plan on getting a pair of Oxtar boots here shortly and some leathers as well. I have a textile suit that I use most of the time, but with my winter mods complete, I'm now focusing my attention on riding gear. When I get something newer and worthy of a review, I'll definately post it up!!!
Hey, I check out the latest trends in gear all the time. Now if only I could afford the stuff, hard to do when you're saving for a 1098 ya know.
I'm not on a buying spree, I built up to 9 pairs of gloves over the last 15 years. I wish I had enough $$$ to go on a motorcycle spending spree. My truck is a POS Ford F150 (after this truck, my first & LAST Ford, I think HD makes better products than Ford) & I'm actively saving for a 2008 GMC so all my dough is wrapped up into that. Hey, I just ordered the Moto GP Corkscrew leather jacket. I got the Yellow/Black combo to match up with my 2k Yellow VFR. I am also ordering the Nolan N102 helmet in black and the Moto GP Grid Leather pants. Now I need sport boots. I need sport boots that will fit my american EEE size 11 1/2 foot and that are waterproof. I am looking at the Oxtar Matrix boots. Any suggestions are appreciated.
When you find a riding boot that will fit E-EEE widths definetly post up, I broke down & bought some steel toe engineer boots to fit the bill( only because my employer offered a new safety shoe program that cover $100 towards new boots & I had just bought a new pair prior to the annoucement)
Yo, I may end up doing the same thing. I am still wearing Durango and Red Wing harness boots with my Cortech Dekker leather pants most of the time. Oh and I forgot to mention I got the MotoGp Corkscrew Leather Jacket for $139.00 at www.newenough.com in the closeout section. Incredible deal - I have seen this jacket for over $300.00 everywhere. I also got a good deal on the helmet at www.dsrpowersports.com. Check them out, because the Nolan N102 is the new ncom edition of the helmet and I only paid $225.00 for the helmet. I got the MotoGP Grid pants at a good deal also from www.motorcloseouts.com for $139.00. I feel like I went to Men's Wharehouse because I have no shoes ;0) . After I find some gloves and a nice Tex-Mesh or Leather-Mesh jacket with CE armour I will be ready for the season - I hope.
I like the looks of the Oxtar Infinity GTX. It's more of a sport touring boots but it looks like a boot that you could put a full day in. KC-10 FE out... lane:
Hey folks, :caked: Well, the VFR is new, but you all know the review on that. Its bitchin, except for some of the throttle response from 4-6K, it seems to die off and come up randomly, so I think a PCIII will take care of that. Other GEAR: SHOEI RF-1000 helmet with Gold Iridium Visor - Sick looking, comfortable, still fogs when I ride on cold days, but it is 30 degrees out... so its tough not to fog. VANSON gloves- I have three pairs, living 10 minutes from their factory has its benefits. I just go, look through their bargain bins, and wham bam I get three pairs of sick gloves (usually 60 each) for 55 bones! Two pairs of Nitrous gloves and one pair of Talons. They are very comfy but made for people with pinky fingers as long as your pointer finger. But it doesnt bother me much, otherwise they fit and look great! I will post details and pictures of the cusom jacket they are making me as soon as I have it, but I have to say, they have been slower than molasses flowing uphill in the wintertime getting the thing to me. If I didnt keep calling to bug them, the thing would never get made! And they lost my measurements...twice. So I dunno, for almost a G, it better be a great jacket. Looking for boots now... thinking maybe Sidi.
Saving up for a new Shark helmet, I want the RSR but will probably get the RSX. I'll defiantly post a review when I finally get it. Action
I will put my short gear review. I bought the Icon Merc short gloves a few months back and like them ok, but they could fit better. The pinky finger is too long and the middle finger is too short. I bought them slightly tight figuring they would stretch out...and they will. Leather takes a while. I also have their Urban Tank bag. The bag is great for school or work, but it might not be big enough for travel. You definately would not want it if you live somewhere where it rains alot because of the way they designed the zippers. Their biggest mistake was they took a backpack and turned it into a tank bag instead of doing the opposite. I am planning on buying the Icon Motorhead jacket next fall. If it doesn't fit right I will send it back though. I would love to be able to afford a Vanson jacket but it's hard to pony up $600-700. And yeah I know it would probably be the last leather jacket I would have to buy. My other next buy will probably be a new helmet. If anyone has any recommendations for a helmet that has excellent observable air-flow let me know. Air-flow, comfort, and weight will be top priorities.
LOL No my man! I have am in need of new boots, but I just have not picked them up yet. However, I did buy a Shoei RF-1000 helmet in Axis Yellow. It is the best damn helmet I have ever owned. Fit, finish, and feel are awesome! It was worth the $360.00! My Joe Rocket full suit is still in good condition, but I have been keeping an eye on the Aerostich suits. So in a couple years I'll get the stich! BZ
I would love to share...you side sittin switch monkey you! OK dudes I know you are all gearhead freaks like me so here goes..from top down. 2001 Arai RX7RR4 Kenny Roberts Jr. Replica- Great helmet, interior 2nd to none. Light, vents well, can be loud with all vents open so earplugs a must on long rides. Very expensive, I was able to buy at cost for 375$ Don't try if you are a pumpkin head, runs narrow in cheeks. All pads removeable and replaceable for size. 2007 Held Akira Gloves size 9. I used to 3 finger brake and didn't realize it was due to less flexion in my glove. I've never spent $ on gloves, but this 249$ is so worth it. Kangaroo on palm, soft supple super comfortable gloves with armor on knuckles and thick padding on forarm. Rain squeegie on right index finger finishing touch. 10 out of 10. I didn't like the more expensive model using shark skin they weren't as comfortable, and ugly. You have to try these on in the store, they run small and stretch so don't buy on the net. 2003 Vanson Speed Jacket- size 46 includes liner. I love Vanson, I also have a full perf that feels like a thick tshirt in the summer. Look for Vanson closeouts, this was 659$ retail I paid 400$. Very thick takes more than a season to break in, but worth it. This one has armor included everywhere except spine protector. Stretch panels under arms nice. I love the checkred look I had a flat track coat also but sold it. Also its USA made. 2003 Fieldsheer Synthetic pants--I am sure they change every year. Armor on hips, knees, rear end 1", and shins. Removable full liner. 3M reflective fabric generous. Totally waterproof. I bought them for a ride 1 week after my son was born and ditched on my family freaking out, rode for 2 days in the full rain with 3 friends, never wet or cold. Best gear I have for the 125$ admission. My friends make fun of me calling them the "DIAPER" but they don't laugh after 200 miles when I'm not standing on my pegs cause my ass is killing me. 2002 Sidi Strada??? non-Tepor. Great boots, run small so buy carefully. I have 46 and am a 11.5/12 depending on vendor. Plenty of armor, quells vibration well. Have never gotten wet even without waterproof membrane. Can't remember cost, I think 225$ but well worth it. Not great to walk in, but I don't care I don't hike and ride at same time. I hope this didn't bore you to tears. This is the best set of gear I've had and I've owned quite a bit over the years.
I bought a Tour Master Magnum jacket a few months ago and I just wanted to tell my story: I paid about $240 for it at the Cycle World show in Phoenix from Tour Master's own Helmet House. Fuckers said it was "on sale". So whatever, I tried it on, liked it, wore it the two hour ride back to Tucson. Two weeks after owning it the zipper started jamming. It jammed so bad that I broke the zipper pull off getting it unstuck just to get it off. I continued wearing it with a wire as a zipper pull. Two months after that, some of the teeth started breaking off and wouldn't zip up all together. Got a hold of TM after 4 emails, sent the jacket back ($23 for shipping), they sent me a new one within a week. The first ride I wore it on, three GD teeth broke off the zipper! I have sent them another email without response yet. I have priced how much it would cost to have a leather worker sew a new [metal] zipper in and will be about $50. I will send TM the bill. I wish I would have bought the Icon like I originally wanted. Recently bought the Joe Rocket Ballistic 5.0 pants. Super warm, easy to put on and off, and I like the pockets on the thigh. They don't breath very well because of the waterproof liner so if you sweat a little your clothes will get damp. Too hot to wear over 60 degrees - found that out today on the 65 degree ride home. Love my Icon Merc gloves (didn't at first), holding up pretty good. Urban Tank bag also still goin strong. No rips, failed zippers, or seams, and the clear plastic is still clear - not yellow like some tank bags I've seen. Also like my Sidi Strada Evo airs. I put duct tape over the vents and I'm all good for the cold. Pretty tight with some woolys in there though.
Mmm No... I look stuff over and over all the time, now I'm after a Spidi Admiral one piece suit in white. which only happens to be available in Japan or the land of Oz.
Most of my stuff is old, and no longer in production. Sniff... Sorry I can't contribute some more on this one! My most recent addition was some Tourmaster pants (HRX?) that suffer from really crummy snaps on the waist cinch strap. By the time you get it tight enough to hold the pants up when you walk, the simple act of taking a deep breath or sitting on the bike unsnaps them. Tourmaster was apologetic and offered to send me some replacement snaps identical to the crummy ones I already had. It was easier to deform the existing ones with a pair of pliers so they stay put most of the time. Seems to me that one of the emails from Tourmaster said that they were discontinuing these pants. A lot of my older stuff is Tourmaster, and I've never had issues other than old age and wear (with their gear, that is). It bothers me to see quality start going downhill, especially when it's a manufacturer I've never had prior issues with. In the interests of being a useful and productive member, I'll buy some new gear and write about it.
