Not sure about the others, but I have a V2 and looking to another V2. I think once you get used to the low end torque of the twins and v4's, it might be difficult to adjust to the I4's power band..

For me it isn't the torque it's the sound and personality that comes with the V4 and the V twins. I would have another Ducati or an RC51 in a second but after riding a CBR100RR, I'm not drawn to it in the least. Sorry!

I have 4 and want about 4 more. 09 VFR, 06 CBR 1000rr, 75 RD 350, and a CR 250 for the dirt. I ride the VFR the most now, love that bike. The CBR is now mostly a track bike, the RD 350 is an old school 2 stroke classic that I had back in high school, and I will always have a dirt bike. I want a 600 track bike for the tighter more technical tracks. A naked bike like the Aprilla Tuono or a Streetfighter, a Goldwing would be nice for long distance and every time I ride my sons Motard I want one, probably the KTM.

Wow, that's a crazy number of bikes! Sounds like you have the same disease I have - motorbikitis???
Keager, you've got a ton of stuff to store as well.
My friend has a Triumph Speed Triple that was really awesome in the tighter curves in Pennsylvania. Would it have a different power delivery than a CBR1000?

Lots of dudes in this thread who can outride a VFR and need a "Sport or superbike" to satisfy thier needs. If I could do that I'd shoot Honda a resume and maybe they would let me ride on thier Moto-GP team.

I know one guy who has over 100 bikes. He's a Harley dealer.

While I love RC 51's the CBR is a much better track bike. I have a friend that uses his RC51 to control ride a various tracks. He has spent a lot of money on it and it is awesome and one of the lightest I have ever seen. I'm still in that long line waiting for a Honda V4 sport bike. 2014?

Not quite all true. Bud of mine is a sales manager for a Harley dealer. Never really counted the bikes but there are a bunch of them for sale. Same deal on Craigslist and many of the other "for sale" sites. My bud's rides? A 55 K, two 350 Aeromacchis and a beveldrive Duc.

The HD's are better than they used to be but they still require tons of fixing and maintenence. Parts and upgrades are super expensive and they handle like hogs..

Any of the fast guys get hooked up with HRC yet? Maybe the resumes are getting filed in folder X.. One cannot tell Honda that thier Moto GP bikes shift on the wrong side and expect a positive response.. .;)

I've been rethinking the whole idea of buying a second bike. I thought about going naked, with a Triumph Speed Triple or the Honda CB1000 (not getting good reviews!), and drifted back to the Fireblade, then thought about Ducatis, and so on and so on... So I went for a run last night to clear my head and basically told myself that I've already got a GREAT BIKE (2010 VFR1200) with low miles, and that I should try to SUPPRESS THE URGE to buy another one because you can only RIDE ONE AT A TIME ANYWAY! So I got home from my run and went and sat in the garage for awhile. I looked at the awesome fit and finish of the VFR - none of the fairing is out of alignment, and all the lines flow smoothly. It looks seamless. I took a good look at the layered fairing, and the single sided swingarm, and the awesome wheels. I looked at the headlight, and appreciated it's awesome lighting power in the dark. I sat on the seat and reminded myself of the excellent wind protection that the windscreen gives me. I looked at the richness of the paint. I'm glad I did this because I reminded myself that I've got the BEST damned bike HONDA has ever BUILT and it's going to go down in history that way!

Being motorcycle nuts here I can assure you that you are not done with your decision on not wanting another bike :). The thought of getting another bike is probably going to come back soon. Next time think along the lines of getting a smaller bike to complement the VFR. Small bikes like sv650, street triple , etc. Personally I would go for an old enough bike that won't depreciate anymore and not worth enough to get full coverage insurance. My CB-1 and hawk gt probably will never lose anymore value and costs me like $60 each per year for insurance. And its nice to have another one to fall back to when you main ride is down for maintenance or waiting for parts.

edit: I see you have an xs650 as well.

$60.00 each a year for insurance. I could only dream of that, Matter of fact, it would be a wet one too.

Here, to have two bikes is almost cost prohibitive if you want to insure both them. My insurance for one bike is $1230.00 per year on a declared value for bike of $6K, $2K for gear and $1k for trailer. Trailer came with the package cause I don't have one.

The capital cost of buying the extra bike is not that big of an issue for me. It is the cost of keeping them on the road. I don't see the reasoning behiond having bikes if you don't ride them as often as you can. Unless of course, your hobby list includes working on them. Then insurance usually does not come into play.

I just wished we could pass our plates back and forth between motorcycles here but it is a complicated and convoluted process here. Basically we can but every transfer has to be registered.

You're probably right. I can already feel the URGE building up to start looking for a bike again! I'm going to take your advice and look for something smaller like the Street Triple, or even maybe the Daytona 675? What else would work? The Speed Triple worked well in the twisties in Pennsylvania.
Yes, I have an XS650 that is being built into a streettracker. It's been almost THREE YEARS since that project started, and it's still not finished. Believe it or not, the seat has been holding up the project for SIX MONTHS! I was told that the seat foam was unavailable due to some sort of price fixing in the seat foam market. Hmmm....

The $60 per year is liability insurance only. If I had comprehensive and collision coverage then the cost will be 10 times that. The low insurance only works if the bike is old enough and cheap. I do all the work on my bikes myself for now. So the only additional cost for me is the registration (~$90 per year per street bike) and the insurance. I used to have progressive insurance which cost me $80 per bike and just switched to farmers which is only $60. And farmers has better service. Initially I never got from a quote from farmers thinking they were definitely going to cost more.

I wouldn't be able to afford the insurance if I had to get full coverage on all bikes. In my case all my bikes cost $2K or under, except the cb-1 and the 1996 vfr. I think I overpaid for the CB-1 , but i really wanted that bike and they rarely come up for sale.

My brother or I am riding these bikes frequently. We put about 10k miles per year on the vfr's and sprint and between 2000-5000 miles on the other bikes except track bikes. Lately the smaller bikes are getting ridden more and more. I rarely use the car now as I got more comfortable riding in the weather.

I would love to have another bike just for occasional use, just an older enduro or something but as it was pointed out earlier its another $1000 a year at least here. Welcome to insurance in Ontario, take a number, drop yer pants, bend over and smile!

yeah my insurance is $75 a year liability only, I thought about getting collision and comprehensive, but that its $400 a year and I don't have that kind of money right now. I think I've decided though that I'm going to eventually going to start collecting classic's and have the really cool old bikes, Like a 72 cb750 (I just made up the year i don't know if that was around that year) and some other older bikes, maybe make a nice cafe racer and just get stuff that is cool to ride, and turns heads because its unique.

That is awsom Ricky. We have Pubic Insurance here ins BC as do they in a couple another provinces as well. The basic insurance for automobiles in such cases has to be with the Public Insurance Company. Any additional insurance such as theft, fire, collision covereage and the such, we can buy from a private company. My basic coverage which includes licence , registrations and basic 1 million liability is $905.00. The additional insurance for theft, collision and all that nice stuff was with Beacon and costs $325. Here is BC, the cost of your basic insurance is based on the type of bike you have, and your driving history.

Now when I first bought my bike I had a go around with the broker who was selling me both policies. They rape you without lubricant and condom if you have a sport bike. They checked their books and of course the VFR is a Sport Tour. So they said it was a Sport Bike. I looked righ back and said it is a Sport Tour so it is a Touring Bike. The argument went on for a very short period of time until I reminded them to look at my grey hair, fat belly and may background. If they didn't accept that it was a touring bike, the broker next door might. I won. Dumb blond bitch.

Yep, been around since 1969. Worlds first "superbike".

Public insurance? Sounds like oversized bureaucracy to me. I had two bikes on my policy at one time; 92 CB750 (Nighthawk) & 99 VFR. I paid $172 a year for full coverage with roadside assist. That was with my multi vehicle, multi-policy & long term customer discounts of course. Since I sold the Nighthawk, I will lose the mulit-vehicle discount on the bike, but it won't top $200.
