    aloha,

I currently have two bikes. I use mostly the VFR because it gets better milage and runs quieter(for unwinding)
I use my VTR when I want to get alittle funky and release...I love the gear drive of the V4, but sometimes..
the pulse and vibes of the V2 is just intoxicating. different rides for different moods, as stated by previous posters. The blonde and the redhead.... :) (white VFR and Red VTR)

To each his own I guess. Main thing is I that you ride. Ride Well....

I have 11 bikes now and at any given time I keep 4 of them insured(4 of them still cost less than one car insurance) and registered. I have 2 different 4th gen VFR's, One sprint RS, a bandit 12. See that is 4 in same category. I still go through CL 2 times a day, not just my city. I search all within 200 miles.

All except the CB-1 and the '94 vfr was bought way under market value though. I can't really explain why I need more than 3 bikes. I am not rich either. I finished my B.S. degree just last summer.

The only explanation is that I can't decide what I want to ride &/ and impatient to wait to try as many bikes as possible. Within the last 2 years I have had a SV650, a superhawk(still miss it) and V45 magna in addition to the current fleet.

I will be downsizing soon....so I have room to acquire and taste other flavors. The f4i, street ninja 250, bandit and gs500 can go. Easy to find another with those later. the gs500 is an easy bike to lend to new riders otherwise I don't care much for it. Ninja 250 will always have a place in my heart. my first crash was on one of those. Used bandit is really good value for money, good usable low end torque, but heavy steering unless really on throttle.

My favorite brands are Honda and Triumph. I don't need the Sprint RS when I have the VFR but that triple engine is intoxicating like the V4. I went to just check out the bike with no intention of buying b'coz I had no experience with triples (in a m/c) besides reading about them. the guy let me test drive it and I bought it on spot(had to go to a friend to borrow money even).

Hopefully I will never need to sell the hawk gt, CB-1 and one VFR. I got really good deals on most of these bikes such that I can quickly sell them and not lose money if the need arises. So its not total insanity.

I really want to get a long distance capable dual sport or adventure bike. Last year we took a trip to death valley and the VFR really limited where we could go. Couple of gravel roads we dared to go on was pretty hairy with the VFR. Maybe replacing the sprint with a tiger is the answer. There are not that many adventure bikes that are old enough for my liking except the BMW's which cost as much as a much newer jap/triumph.

I'm now down to 5 bikes, 3 vfrs. I've been a huge V4 fan from the day they first showed up.

I used to buy the bike that I really wanted to ride. couldn't sell the previous bike when I bought the next. So a collection started. But someone pointed out that "type" of bikes I had were all redundant and for the same purpose. All sport bikes. So I started selling and bought purpose specific bikes because I talked myself into thinking that's what would justify more than one bike. well most of them just sat there. So those got sold and now I'm back to buying bikes that make me happy just to look at or mean something to me. A few, just let me relive my 20's and 30's. Or I'm just sublimating for the fact that I'm not allowed to have more than one girlfriend these days.

You know Rustitution, I think we need to act quick. ricky doesn't even see he has a problem. He is justifying himself and denying that he can't deal with his addiction. I have seen this before. It is not pretty. If an intervention does not take place soon, he may start collecting vespas. Or even worse, he just may get a Harley. We have to save him.

Wow, what a timely thread for me. I'm thinking about picking up a late model CBR1000rr, like a new 2011 or 2012. When I demo'd one with Honda, I really liked the responsive feel. I loved the way the front wheel would come up, and I also liked the way it felt in the corners. I'm interested in buying one for another three-day trip through some fairly twisty stuff because I feel that the handling will be a lot tighter than on the VFR1200. Any thoughts on this? Will this be a waste of money??

Personally I dont think so, thats kind of the option i'm looking at going in the future. I have the vfr750 for commuting and touring, I'm looking at an old cb750, or something else cafe racer looking, and then assuming I do a track day this year and like it I may look into getting a CBR1000RR or something else strictly for the track.

The CBR is a totally different animal compared to the 1200. Like you said the throttle is very responsive and the way it handles is lot different. the CBR is one of the comfortable supersport bike for the street. Although I don't know how long you will be able to ride at a stretch/day. So can not comment on your 3 day trip with out any more details.

Personally, I always have a supersport along with the VFR. Even though the VFR is plenty fast and handles well. my hand itches for that speed rush from a supersport.

I've got mine, the wife has hers, but I've become a bike storage over the winter. Older Goldwing with a trike kit, another buddies Yamaha crusier, mine, and the wife's Spyder, but with a 30 x 40 (foot) garage, still plenty of room.

Okay, so I'm not going crazy? You're all right - I'd like a different bike for a different feel for a different time! And the CBR is definitely that!
I'm also considering the CB1100. Has anyone seen one in person? I love the way it looks but I fear that it will be rather banal (bland) on the road. Boring ride with no windscreen...hmmm. Any thoughts??

I don't know if you would notice much of a difference after riding the VFR other than the wind blowing at you..

Hahah, that's probably true. This motorcycle fever is a sickness, I tell you.....
The thing I like about the CBR 1000 is that it really feels like you're hardly riding anything - the bike just feels like an extension of your body.
I noticed on this thread that VFR owners that have multiple bikes tend to have other v4's or v twins. Is that a fair comment?
