Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think what he means is the 50th anniversary of Honda's founding in 1948. In 1998 the 5th gen came in these colors (left photo) in some markets (I believe the UK but maybe some other Euro markets -I'm no expert on that) in the color scheme of Mike Hailwood's 6 cylinder RC174 from the 1960's. The bike in his photo looks to be the same. I'm guessing it's going to take a custom spray job to replicate those panels.

I do remember reading a road test of that 50th Anniversary color 5th Generation VFR on a UK magazine back in 1999.

We got the 50th Anniversary model here in NZ ! I would like one - any for sale always seem to be in kept in showroom condition so hold their price very well. I guess they are purchased by people who appreciate what they have. Sorry - No spares for eek though:frown:

We had 50 imported to Oz but I only one other rider besides myself who has one and haven't even met him, bought my immaculate 50th Anni in '05 with only 3000kms but have since added pleasurable and sometimes abusive 62,000kms on it. It got accidentally knocked ( reasonably gently as I guided it as softly as I could down ) over in '07 by a careless car driver who hit me in the rear Ventura rack at a red light and the Insurance's repairer was able to source a new 50th Anni panel fully stickered from Honda Japan.
