Hi. I'm the proud new owner of a Yellow '99. It has 51000km and tbr carbon exhaust. Was looking for a fun bike to commute and day rides when this one showed up on CL. Took her for a short run and was so impressed it had to come home with me. I'll be keeping my 03 Goldwing for the long distant touring with the SO. I just stripped the tupperware off to check things out and get familular with the new ride. Will be changing all the fluids and checking it out from top to bottom while the weather is not co - operating. I've learned alot for the posts here already but I'm sure I'll be posting more questions coming weeks. Will get a pic up soon.

    Vince

Well Vince. Something you have not learned here is that we expect pix to be posted with your intro. Had to be said. Welcome to the site Bud. Where in Beautiful BC are you hanging your helmet? 51000km is child's play. My 06 has over 160,000 km and going strong. But it is a 6th gen and it is white. Two factors that make this one a superior and faster bike.

Thanks Randy. Lesson learned. Don't know if I'll catch up to you in km rode but I'm going to try real hard. The helmet hangs in Victoria.

The thing is Vinney. If you try to catch up, you simply cannot loose. Think of the hours of riding trying and if you succeed, then I of course, have to do the same and painfully ride until I re-take the lead. I love Victoria. A little frustrated with the driving there. Lived in Campbell River for 9 years too. Existed only in Nanaimo for two dreaded long horrible years.

    Nice looking two wheeler.

    Hey Vince

Welcome to the madness. You know I looked long and hard to find a used yellow 5th gen when I was looking to replace the 4th gen but to no avail. Damn, I should waited a little while as they seem to be everywhere NOW.......

My wife's parents live out on the island, in Parksville, and we were thinking of taking the kids out there this summer at some point for a holiday. Maybe if we can swing the time, we'll see if we can look you up for a ride.

Does the 99's have the 170 or 180 rear tire? When you get a chance, can you please some more pictures of the bike. The yellow color is just gorgeous and the bike looks clean !!

Welcome aboard!!! Loved Victoria when I was there, but they would not let me smoke my expensive cuban cigar in the bars even though they let ciggy smokers light up!@
180 sounds right, I have a 5.5 inch rear wheel (8 spoke rear wheel that originally came with a 170 - 91 wheel- that I have been using with a 180 with no probs, sometimes I would have to break out the wood-plainer to scrape off some side wall, (ended up with some rubber) It all depended on where the rear tyre was manufactured really. The wood plainer thing is a double agent secret thing, so remember Green Hornet

I thought the yellow VFR was a year 2000 color only; what gives?

Probably first sold in Nov/Dec. 1999, even though it was a 2000 year model.

In Canada the VFR800 was available in yellow in 99, but I'm not sure if it was available here in yellow for the year 2000

That must of been long ago as smoking has been banned inside for at least 15 years.
