Well, it happened, "the Longest Dong" and I went out for another offroad excursion together. If you have been following our adventures, this is a follow-up to an adventure that we had in June of last year (2012) that didn't go so well. Click here for past adventure

The plan was to "officially" pop Long's cherry offroading on his GS. I gave him a sampling in June, but now this was more training for a cabo trip that he wants to do sometime.

I was not sure how in the hell we were gonna load two full-size bikes in my "baby" YO, but with a liberal application of KY Jelly, we managed to squeeze them both in with a full inch to spare. lol

The baby YO made it all the way to our camp without a hitch. The boss thinks it is ok upon arrival at our campsite.

Long wanted to make sure we were up to the task, so he brought some vietnamese sammiches from Little Siagon near were he lives.

Making sure I was enjoying my sammich (looks like I need a beer too from the serious look on my face!)

After indulging on our yummy sandwiches, we figured we would gear up and hit the trail right away and put up camp later.

    Is this thing on????

A nice shot of Borrego Valley.

All around Borrego Valley a wealthy land owner (Dennis Avery, of Galleta Meadows) who owns tens of thousands of acres of land pays an artist (Ricardo Breceda of Perris Jurrasic Park) to create metal sculptures in and around the valley. They are what he calls "free standing art for all to view and enjoy." They are strewn all around in random areas. Many are of dinosaur looking creatures, some are horses, some are elephants, and some are mythical creatures, or just creatures conjured up by the artist. Most people that travel thru Borrego will see a good number of them, however, to see some of the best and more interesting, you have to leave the pavement, and travel down dirt paths to get to them. The time, effort, and skill that goes into these sculptures is just downright amazing. If you have the chance, and are in the area, you should check them out sometime.

Below are some just some of the many that we viewed.

Mythical beast (wounded). I think the boss just shot it with his .45!

    Standing up mythical beast.

What a man right there....doesn't he just look rugged?

I guess I was in "DEEEEEP" thought on this pic. lol
    [IMG]

I turned around to enjoy the view, and I heard this clinging, and clanking, and moaning, and TO MY SHOCK, this is what I saw........my lord boss....we only had a couple days away from your wife. I guess even dinosaurs turn him on. Poor little guy (dinosaur) never saw that coming. I just pray he was using a condom, because can you imagine a baby Long raptor running around? :behindsofa: Lord help us!

I don't know about you, but mama did not look happy from what Long was doing to her little one.

I gave the boss some privacy to finish his bidness....cuz' ya know how when a dog starts humping your leg and you have to let it finish, or else it will get angry and bite? Well, that is what I was afraid was gonna happen, so I let nature run its course. Next up, this amazing sight is what another one that came upon. This is one is new to me, as I have seen probably the vast majority of his sculptures. It was massive, and just amazing is all I can say.

This first pic (from a distance) gives you an idea of how big that it was.

It is so massive, that I got skeered and turned around to high tail it out of there..... but the boss had to talk some courage into me. :behindsofa:

Another close up view with the bikes nearby to gage the size of this massive piece.

View of the front showing the length behind. Once you arrive up on this Dragon/serpent, it truly takes your breath away. I was astonished at the magnitude of this particular scuplture, the thought behind it, and just the logistics of bring it all together.....ALL FOR FREE, for everyone to enjoy! This Dennis (land owner) seems to be a standup guy based upon all of these sculptures all around for the public to enjoy.

Ok, after we were done viewing (and violating) the dinosaurs, and other creatures, we decided to get our feet wet. I figured a nice water crossing would be in order, so we headed down to one of my favorite roads for water crossing in the desert. You have a small one, medium one, then a big one, and it is an out and back, so you hit them again on the way back. It is a blast.

After the first crossing, we parked for a break, and while Long was taking pictures, I might have took off on his girl for some mishap.

    Giving her a bath.

Wash, rinse, and repeat.....hmmmmmm, did I forget to lather??

Being a poseur, like I do best.

Testing out his girl's new shoes. He just put some new Heidenau dual sport tires on here and she is ten times better in the dirt than with the 90/10 road tires. I really like the rear tread pattern, and I might try them for my next rear shoe on my redhead.

Maybe he should have gotten stilettos? She feels so good between my legs.....do I have to give her up? I think so, the boss looks like he is getting angry with me for abusing his woman..... :bolt:

Now the boss decided to show me how to properly bathe his girl.....mind you, in front of about 14 boyscout troops and a camera, so the pressure was on!

Batter up! Here he comes ladies and gents. Proper line up and execution is imperative. With this much on the line, the pressure must be IMMENSE! Can he do it??? Stay tuned!

Listen and you can hear it.....KERRRRRPLUUUSSSHHH.... enjoy the :shower: boss???

Here I thought he was gonna go :fish2: , but low and behold "the Boss" powered thru with ease like a true Dakkar champ and his girl was sure shining now! :vanity:

I was returning from further exploring the road up ahead. It is (mainly) and old jeeping road, which usually only 4x4 lifted (short wheelbase really helps) vehicles can navigate it. Before the park service busted up some of the nastiest section, it was really cool to watch some 4x4's try to make it without rolling over. That section would be for another time, as I was unsure if Long's baby girl would be fond of the terrain. Next time....

    Braaaaaaaaaappppp.... (ok.....THUMP THUMP THUUUUMP...)

Up high view of the ladies. A well-deserved rest for them and us!

Stopping at Clark Dry Lake bed......thinking....hmmmmm....I would love to try for some top speed runs....just a few.

The boss on the dry lake bed (wanting to do a top speed run as well).

    Both bikes sitting pretty....

Long deciding to "go for it" up the cliff at our break. He was narrowly eclipsed by another for the stunt double for Sylvester Stallone in the movie "Cliff Hanger." What a show off!

Long had so much fun, that sadly, he died of a acute pleasure sensory overload. :rip: Mi amigo
    [IMG]

Well, thanks for tagging along on our little adventure. Mr Long is making that GS more his bitch each and every trip. Still, for the time-being at least, this is how it is....GS > :xxx::ass: < Long. I hope you enjoyed my write-up, and be sure to tune in for the next one!

Lots of riding in MI's UP ( close to you) that I know of first hand. Endless old logging roads. Pull the trigger, as the fun starts when the pavement ends....

I was really wondering. Long. Just why are those metal sculptures rusted? You must be plumb tuckered out.

Wished I was there as well. Been up some logging roads a couple times on the VFR but nothing that comes even close to comparing with that stuff guys.

I think I saw a sculpture of my ex mother in law in one of those photographs, She died about 65 million years ago.

This may sound like a stupid question but did the Salton Sea once cover a lot of where you were riding? Hell, I was only an hour away from there when I came through Palm Springs from Phoenix last year.

Well, we certainly have the roads for them up here in BC. Tink will understand well. But most of our roads in dem dare hills are gravel logging roads. We don't pave those here. In Canada, according to the CIA fact book on Canada of all things, there is only about a total of 1,408.900 km (875,449 miles) of roads here of which only 497,342 km (309,034 miles) are paved. That is what about 35%. But then, in most of Canada, for 8 months of the year, we don't need paved roads. Ours are frozen. But yah. I wouldn't mind getting one of those if finances ever permitted.

Nice one. I love that area. When I used to have a 4x4 me and my family would head out that way and explore. I remember Split Mountain and Sandstone Canyons very well. Glad you both had a good time. Heck! We were at Carlee's at the center of town around the same time you two were!

Well Mr Randy, since you are royalty and all, I figured I would answer your question personally. The Salton Sea was actually formed 1905 to 1907 when irrigation canals that were created filled with silt, and during then heavy rainfall and snowmelt caused the canals walls to become breached and it filled the Salton Sink for about two years before engineers could fix it. However, the Salton Sea covers a much smaller footprint of prehistoric Lake Cahuilla. That lake actually covered an area from Mexicali in the south, to Indio in the north. It did not, however, cover Borrego Springs or the area that we were riding in. However, (I love that word), over three million years ago, the baja peninsula was separated from the north american plate, and the sea now covered all Imperial County up to Indio, all of Borrego Valley, as evidenced by the fossil and other marine sediment found in the surrounding area. I guess when you think of it, just about every place on the planet was covered with water at one time or another.

Oh, and if you are thinking of going to the Salton Sea, we forewarned, it stinks, and it stinks REALLY bad in the summer when the algae blooms and sucks a lot of oxygen out of the water, and causes the only remaining fish (the sea was stocked with fish in the 50's and 60's when Salton City was thriving, and Sonny and Cher could be seen there, as Sonny was a proponent of the "Save the Salton Sea.") that can survive in it's ever increasing saltiny to suffocate, and subsequently, you see MASSIVE fish die offs. I have seen it firsthand, and it is a stinky mess. I could not walk down the shore without stepping on dead Tilapia (the only remaining fish that can survive). Dead fish floating, rotting, and smelling just lovely as you can imagine on a 110 degree day. The sea has no outlet, and its only inlets are New river, the Alamo river (two of the most polluted in the US), and the whitewater stream. The New River, and the Alamo pass thru farmland and is used to irrigate crops, what is left over is full of pesticides, fertilizers, and nitrates, that flow directly into the sea. The best part is that even before the rivers reach the farm land, dozens of sewage trucks in Mexico pump raw sewage in it each day around the clock...illegally, but who is gonna stop them. To sum it up, your toilet water would be like pure glacier water in comparison.

Salton City used to thrive, but as the Sea's salinty rose, along with its concentration of chemicals, and lovely fish die-offs, suprisingly, the town is a ghost down. I will say, if you ever want to see what civilization will look like after the collapse of society, look no further than Bombay Beach on the east shore of the Salton Sea......it is you could say, interesting.....

So, are you ready to buy a one week vacation at the Salton Sea yet, or not?
