Mine was exhaust activated. Now that I'm not riding some straight pipe cruiser, the db sensor isn't sensitive enough to hear me coming. No idea how to adjust it. It was erratic at best anyway.

He probably did it because he saw the flash2pass garage remotes. I got one, but it never worked for me. Now my garage door is manual, so it's a PITA as I have to walk around and unlock the garage door from the inside.

As for the question asked, I know we use off-delay timers sometimes here at work. They get power and only stay on for however long the timer is set for. Allen-bradley makes ours, but you might be able to find cheaper ones.

My biggest problem right now is that even Sears does not have a replacement opener for my Craftsman Door Opener. Or so they say. Maybe I will tale one of the existing openers I have and re-wire it for the PBNO switch then seal all the edges of the opener with silicon before I mount it somewhere under the faring. Seems to be a lot of work when this outfit has designed something already.

I suppose it depends on what your time is worth. Mine is worth about $1.26/hr right now.

I saw Genie openers on sale at Home Depot last night for $99!
    Hard to beat that.

You can hit Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, etc. and pick up a universal Garage door opener. You program it to match your opener. That is what I used to make mine.

Thanks for that. But that puts you right up there to what this manufacturer was charging for a motorcycle specific unit. If my fobs give up the ghost before the opener does, I will look at these. But the salesman at Sears said that my opener was old enough, that their new fobs will not operate the opener. That sounds unreal to me but hey. What do I know.

    Bump.

I just bought a regular remote control off amazon for my garage door ($30 for security+ remote) and stuck it on to my top panel behind the windscreen with some 3M heavy duty outdoor velcro. Works like a charm, and hasn't been damaged yet by rain (though I only ride in it, always use covered parking.)

I'm considering cracking it open the next time I have the fairing off and mounting the PCB to the underside of the panel inside, with the HID inverters, and soldering a cord on in place of the remote switch to run up to a push-button I could mount on the panel. It's a pretty simple mod, and for ~$35 all told it's not bad. Only downside is I wouldn't be able to take it off the bike if I'm leaving the house in someone else's vehicle.

The garage remotes have a temporary circuit. At least on mine, Chamberlain, holding the button down doesn't cause the garage door to continuously cycle open and closed. You have to release the button and press again, so riding with the high beams would only activate it once and then it should be off. I did this same thing with a $8 relay from Radio Shack powered by the high beam circuit, with the switched side connected by soldering wires to the remote's circuit board. The remote is still battery powered but the batteries last 5-6 years.

For plug and play convenience, the product for sale looks like a good buy.

Can you give me some technical assistance on how to make this model work with my shed door? I have spent about the same on the door opener and have a standard B&D garage door motor, but can not get the remote to operate it no matter how much testing and programming I do. I pull up, sound horn and wait. When I get sick of waiting I get off bike, go into shed and open dooor.

I know my shed door opener is compatible with the motor and remote control unit (has opened door many times to put her car in there) but can not get it to work when I am on my motorcycle.

Is there a programming step I am missing?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Sounds like you have a defective model. You'll either need to return it for a newer, updated model, but beware: There is usually a restocking fee and that could potentially cost you more than the original.

The other option is to continue to throw more money at it and hope you can fix the problem and make it work properly.
