Due to a crash back in October, I got my bike a new tank, new front fender, new handle bars, new front cowling, new side cowlings, new rear cowling, new foot pegs, new rear brackets and pegs, new crankcase cover, new wiring, new headlight assemblies, new instrument panel, new rads and another 30 or so odds and ends.

Aside from that, I've also got a double bubble dark smoke zero gravity screen, a competition works fender eliminator, and will be buying any day now a Harris or Red Fox hugger, and carbon yoke and instrument panel covers from the UK. Also thinking about a sergant seat if funds allow for it.

Yes, I put it on a couple of years back excellent, but the Christmas thing was a mount I made to fit it where the front left coil used to be on the left side of the head stock !

I ordered an Ultimate Beadrider (the one with ceramic beads) from an eBay seller. It arrived today and it turns out that the lying asshole sent me the standard one, with wooden beads. One PayPal dispute coming right up!

From a performance point of view, what difference to those pistons make?

by all accounts, it's about one or two ft/lbs of torque and maybe three hp? The biggest difference should probably be felt in the throttle response. But for an engine that's only 43hp stock, little increments make a big difference, especially in the thin mountain air.

It's kind of a shame to only do the piston at this point and not be able to do the larger valves and a better cam too. All things in time. Wish I could do a before/after dyno run but the way the budget is at the moment, I shouldn't have bought the piston let alone the extra $60 on the dyno.

Thumpers are nice though - under $200 for the kit.

Is that all the DR650 makes ? My DRZ400SM was doing better than that, after a few mods

I'm sure that's true. The DR is known for it's low end torque, not peak HP. Went looking for more specs and found motorcycle-usa.com writeup that lists the DR differently than I quoted above.

Having to do it over again, I would probably have been better off starting with the Z platform.

    all well....

Get this: the seller is disputing my refund request because his listing didn't state that the Beadrider was made from ceramic beads. Well, that's true (it said nothing at all about what it was made from) but the listing specifically described it as the "Ultimate" model Beadrider, and that model is only made from ceramics.
The dickhead even used pics of a brand new Ultimate Beadrider that he had lifted from the manufacturer's website!

I can't wait to receive the full refund I'll be getting for this.
The wanker wants me to post it back before he'll refund my money; there's no way I'm paying to return an item that was fraudulently listed!

For a stock 650, 43 HP sounds about right. I just sold an XR650R that was liquid cooled and it only had about 45 HP stock. I replaced it with a CRF250R - it's 400cc and 6 HP down, but it is 80 lbs lighter, so you don't notice the difference.

That's bad business. The customer is always right. Most places let you return something if you're simply not satisfied with it. Besides, it sounds like a deceptive listing.

It was definitely a deceptive listing!

PayPal have now said that they've decided in my favour (of course) but they won't authorise a refund until I ship the item back to the seller, and I am expected to cover the cost of return postage! I have told PayPal that this is not good enough; why the hell should I be out of pocket for postage costs when it is the seller who made a fraudulent description of the item?!
I have escalated it to a fraud claim with my credit card provider, who take this sort of thing very seriously.
