    Congrats on the purchase!
We look forward to the pictures and ride impressions. Oh wait the pics are here and it looks awesome, even has frame sliders too!

You say that you may have an upper fairing for sale?? Do tell.

Oh yeah...it also has the RG (?) frame sliders, as you can see, with the smaller overflow coolant tank as well. I'm not sure I'll keep the sliders, so that means I'd probably like to sell/swap the side fairings WITH the sliders as a whole pkg in return for someone (SoCal?) who has the same bike, same color, perfect fairings, and wants the sliders. This way, you get a whole kit, fairings pre-drilled, and I get fairings without holes in them. I've only had the bike a short while, so I'm still deciding...

    Impressions so far:

    • The linked brakes are the absolute tits. Can't say enough about them. No diving, it just...stops and squats. Love 'em.
•*Have not *really* tested the ABS yet, but love the way this thing stops overall.
    • When the previous owner told me the PC5 had the engine dialed-in, he wasn't joking. The VTEC is awesome (first time I have ridden a bike with it ever) and the thing shifts like butter. Feels like it's an automatic. So buttery smooth. No flat spots, just steady pull. For all the drama (most of which may have been in my head) over VTEC, I love it. It simply works great when it's dialed-in with the right map. I haven't ridden one that's stock pipe/no PC/OEM air filter (I've got an aftermarket one....not K&N, but...?), so that might be different, but I love how well this one works.
    • Haven't hit the canyons/twisties yet. Maybe this weekend I'll have a chance to run it thru my fave canyon. Only daily commute so far, but I like it. Comfortable and effortless steering.

Seems like a fair deal for someone. I'm sure you will have some takers fi you decide to opt for the swap.

Yep. I need to look at it closely again, but from what the seller was telling/showing me there was a windscreen screw that was overtightened, and it broke out the threaded portion, and rather than fix it (I don't think you'd see the glue/plastic repair when you put the windscreen on) the seller just bought an entire new upper fairing. Other than that, it's perfect paint, no scratches, stored well, etc. I can get fotos this weekend if you are interested. I remember thinking that it did not look like a difficult repair to make/have fixed.

We're possibly going to go to Palomar this Saturday if you want to tag along with us (Scubalong, OCLandspeeder, & whoever else...). Congrats on the new ride, she looks great!

I'll have to catch you guys another day. This weekend I'm on a dive boat from about 4am sat till waaay late sunday night, out @ Catalina, keeping a watchful eye over a bunch of dive rookies in 100'+ of 50 degree F water...

I WILL make this trip with you guys on another day though. I have not been to Palomar yet.

Congratulations. The bike looks great. I have a majority of the same options on my bike and compared to stock, all of the rough edges are smoothed out - especially with the PC5. The hard cases too are the ultimate in convenience. When I researched buying mine back in '06, I was very concerned about the VTEC from all the negativity that I was reading about (on this forum). In all honesty though, I realized that just about (if not) all of those negative comments were from people who didn't even own one! I decided to ignore them and bought it. This is now my 7th year with it and I love it. The VTEC is great and has no adverse affect on handling or performance. I'm glad it all worked out for you.

All this BS and no mention of what the seller wants, what the OP's "sweet spot" happens to be and how much he is really willing to pop for this bike. IMO this is about the info one would get from a used car salesman with a weekend gig at a harley dealer.

What might all that dirt be hiding too and bags for how much? The OP may be in Washington or Colorado from the info given..

Thanks for the kudos, and especially thanks for your voice of reason regarding VTEC. Many of your posts and thoughts on it, both before and after you bought yours, really helped me get on board buying a bike and an engine I had never even ridden before until I test rode this one last week. Appreciate the level-headedness on it.

    Group Hug! No fanny patting.

The anti Vtechies, I figure, have never been on a bike with a hot cam or a two stroke when it comes up on the pipe. They also bitch about the cost/hassle for adjustments. I figure they never had a desmo duc either.

The VTEC bashing has really died down quite a bit over the last few years. When I was looking to buy my '07 back in 2006, I joined this forum and could not believe all the negativity about it. Again, once you cut through all the crap, you start to separate opinion from fact. Now-a-days, you don't see the bashing hardly at all. I think people have now turned their focus to hating the 7th Gen. It seems that it is instinctive to dislike the latest Gen.

Congrats on the new bike. I hope to be in the market for the very same setup you have in the near future. What did you end up paying for it? If I still lived in carlsbad I would be all over that palomar invite. Luckily I am able to find some decent roads in my area but none that compare with palomar. That has to be one of the greatest roads in the country for bikes. I sure do miss it.

I paid a fair enough price that when I heard it, I did not haggle one dime or question it. I just got my arse to the bank, post-haste! :)

Yep! Almost to a dude, most are envious or insanely jealous of my mach 1 91. Not only capable of 763mph at sea level but gets 100+ mpg in doing so. If figure it is thier cross to bear, not mine. ;)

I have a fairly stock '06 (aftermarket pipes, K&N filter, double bubble windscreen) non ABS, with the bags. 12K miles - still pretty new. I would expect to get about 6000 to 6500 for it, as it is pretty immaculate. I've kept up on the maintenance and if a piece of plastic gets broken it gets replaced. I can also guarantee that she's never been down, never ridden hard for a long period of time either.

Sounds like a great buy! Ya don't say if it's for sale or not. What ya might do if it is for sale, is to say it needs to go to a good home. That way nobody will want to lynch you for selling a VFR.. ;)
