Hey everyone I a new owner of an 07 VFR 800 that came with a Two Bros Exhaust system. From what I have been reading online the Two Bros system actually only uses one can and the other is a dummy. My bike definitely has two working cans! I was wondering if this is an older model or someones custom work. Not complaining though, it sounds amazing!

    Cool!

I can tell you that Thurn Motorsport in Germany still lists an exhaust collector crossover pipe to run twin aftermarket exhaust cans for the 6th gen. bikes Murph so I'm lookin' forward to seeing some pics of that custom crossover pipe you've got for your Two Bros cans.

BTW-That's a cool chainguard/subfender combo you've got on your bike Murph.

I would like to see this also, I really like 2bros but I just cannot handle it using only one can.....if yours has two working cans this might give me another route to take when I change mine out this winter

Keeps us up to date

In the description for the VALE exhaust it says:

Note: The exhaust is routed through the right side canister only.

That's correct Murph the Two Bros M2 V.A.L.E. exhaust systems for the 6th gen. VFR800 rout the exhaust through the right side can only. JTC is right though, unlike the hollow left side dummy can which is used for storage on the "Stash" exhaust systems, the left side can of the M2 V.A.L.E. exhaust systems is an actual working exhaust can.
It connects to a small dummy pipe that mounts onto one of the bolts that secure the left side passenger peg hanger bracket.
The left side can is for looks only. It's 2.7 lbs of crap hangin' off the frame that does absolutely nothing to enhance the bike's performance, which is why I'll be tossing it onto my parts shelf when I bolt up my new M2 Elite exhaust system.

Your post is confusing to me. You first say the VALE routes through the right side only (as says the TBR website, as has been told to me by a TBR representative); then in the next sentence you say the left side VALE can is a working can. Which is it?

Does anyone have confirmation/evidence that performance is actually increased using a 2-into-1 exhaust (even with the dummy can)? Is the performance of this Two Bros system comparable to other mfgs' exhausts for the 6th gen?

When Stosh says "working" can, he means that it is capable of being used as a muffler, but in this case it does not connect to the VFRs exhaust system. I have this exact setup and was blown away when I saw that the left can just sits there! If something were to happen to the right can, I could just put the left one in it's place and be back in business. The left can is for esthetics only. As far as performance increase/decrease, I cannot tell you as the bike had these on when I bought it so I have no reference to a stock setup. I can tell you that it sounds a lot better than a stock setup. Note that I also added a PCV to my setup, so I am even further from stock now.

Here is a pic of the left canister as seen from underneath...

On the other hand, it's useful to hold onto when you're trying to pull the bike up onto the centre stand. It also keeps the bike looking aesthetically balanced.

There is no doubt that TBR kept the left can purely for cosmetic reasons as the bike looks strange with no pipe there. It is unfortunate that they didn't make the left pipe a hidden storage compartment like the did with the stash. I've had two of teh stash systems and that additional storage comes in handy.

I read somewhere on their site that they had better perfromance results from the single can but it would be interesting to see dyno sheet comparison between a standard VAIL system and the custom one that Murph has on his bike. I have to say that I'm more than satisfied with the looks, sound and performance of the single can.

Thanks guys. Definitely odd, but I guess I'll believe that it's an acceptable alternative. I'm waiting on a price from one of my sponsors (the seem to only carry TBR for our bikes), so we'll see if it works out!

Yeah gotta admit that "no left side pipe look" does take a bit of getting used to Jethro. :twitch:

Thank God it doesn't look weird though, because you know I would never do anything weird to my bike.

    I'm really liking that sub-fender.

I've got the exact same bike except for the sub fender. I have that exhaust too, but I took out the db eater. I wish my exhaust was connect though.
