    Good to know.!

I don't think they are polished. they are silver/grey like the ones in this pic. Painted I assume? I think someone used some heavy duty cleaners on it and which caused it to look all spotty.

Bahaha. I would have laughed right in their faces when they tried to pull that one on me.

Yah that is a pretty shitty way to make money off your customers. They must be a really small operation or have a huge shit load of bikes to deal with.

My rims are out for coating right now so it is sitting on the garage on the service stands till they come back. I pulled the wheels, removed tires, valves, bearings, discs, and delivered them to the powder coat shop. I planned this so I have all new bearings and seals for reassembly but I still need one schrader valve (90 deg) for the front wheel. No rush as the snow is super deep and still coming, spring is a loooong way off.

Actually speaking, all of the above. The shop in question is a really small two man operation that came highly recommended by a friend if I ever needed any mechanical work done on my bike and his labor rates are really low compared to the bigger shops. His shop is basically a 3 car garage with about 20-30 bikes (all in various states of assembly or otherwise if you know what I mean) in it, and more bikes sitting outside. Had my bike in to him to do a full brake system flush for me last year as I don't have a vacuum bleeder and his price was less than half of what the Honda dealer wanted. I just happened to ask what it would cost to get the wheel bearings removed and replaced while I was getting the rims powder coated and he gave me a great price. He mentioned he could store the bike for me while the rims were being done but that he would have to charge storage because he had such limited space. I did not pay him to store the bike but considering how limited his space was, I can certainly understand why he MIGHT have to charge someone storage in such a case. Whether I/we think it is right or wrong, that was just his policy. If he was doing work on the bike he would store it for free. Just wanted to mention that there is always a possibility that some places MIGHT charge for storing a bike while some of it's parts are being worked on at some other shop.
