There should be a gasket where the two halves of the air box join together. The k&n filter has the gasket molded into the filter, at least on the 6 th gen anyways.

I don't remember remove any oring, unless I was drunk when I install them last.
The filter should fall into the groove along the edge.........

There should be an o-ring between the two air box halves, this ensures a tight seal. As mentioned before, the K&N has a "lip" around the outer edge on the filter, this essentially fills into the groove in the air box that is normally filled by the o-ring. Take a look at the air box halves to see if you can see if the o-ring is embedded in the groove. I don't recall which half has the groove it in but I would imagine it would be the lower half as it would work with gravity not against it.

    Cheers

I found them. they are on either side of the air box. They are difficult to see and I had to use a very tiny screwdriver to dig them out because they are glued in with a light adhesive. Thanks for the info because the air box didn't seal properly with them in there. :)

And as an FYI...save them suckers...I wanted to go back to stock as mine has a K&N but of course the O-Rings are long gone. You cannot buy them separately....you must buy the whole air box assembly!

So needless to say I love my K&N, lol

Couldn't you cut off the gasket part off the k$n filter or better yet use something like window/ door gasket material for the o ring to go back to oem filter?

Yeah, I probably could but it's not worth the trouble honestly. I have used K&N's in a lot vehicles and never had any issues at all so i decided to just roll with it :)
