Any tips on how to kill someone with propylene glycol? Damn sure wouldn't want anybody pumped full of that shit and tossed outdoors somewhere in the wilds of Minnesota in January. Much better to use one of those really nifty 50cal sniper rigs that the pros's can kill with at + 400metres. No sense getting dirty and getting exposed to all kinds of nasty chemicals when ya can just shoot em.

You need to us eexamples in our own history Tink. The foreign nations throwing off dictators are poor examples to compare to, we are too different culturally for an effective comparison.

I'll help you by giving you a freebee of were the 2nd amendment was applied to government corruption and overreach in the US:

What is sad is no one is coming to the table with any kind of solution.

    So Bubba Zanetti has one.

Make all semi-automatic assualt style weapons ownership subject to a similar system as the private ownership of Class III weapons. For those of you who don't know what ClassIII weapons are is the ownership, in general terms, of true fully automatic weapons, silencers (correct term is suppresor) and shotguns with barrels less than 18 inches.

The 2nd amendment is not violated as a citizen can own the weapon and through the tough scrutinay and background check invovled the crazies, sickos and normal but completely irresponsible people are denied access.

Say this doesnt work? Bullshit! How many Class III owners go off the deep end and shoot up schools? It doesn't happen. Why? cuz the ATF makes sure with the background check you are responsible enough to own that level of firepower. Its not a cash and carry proposition either. I had friends wait 6 months to get their clearance for their gun.

Oh, and if you think ClassIII owners are all pro-gun control think again, but I don't know one I didn't ask what they thought of the system and ALL said the same thing: "Weapons like this are not for everyone, I understand why we have to go through what we go throough to get them".

I am with BB. I have long been irked that some shithead with a credit card can roll into Wal-Mart, buy a AR-15 and roll out in few minutes without any addiitonal scrutinay? That has baffled me for years.

And for the record, I have long collected military style firearms. I lost interest in hunting, started competition shooting and collecting.

I am not a anti-gun freak, but its clear certain restrictive mearures work in cutting down that kind of firepower in the wrong hands.

I don't think thats asking for too much.

....and I agree with BZ. Way too many dudes have firepower way beyond what may be needed short of a military firefight. Mostly the dudes that have that sort of forepower are the "Les go out an kill some shit" crew.

Heck, I may even put my Vulcan up for sale on EBay after I whack a few more rabbits into rabbitburger pate'.

For those who might be someday into target shooting, check out 10 metre guns. This is an Olympic competition and for the bike types one of the premier manufacturers was BSA. (Birmingham Small Arms)

The counter argument, as I'm sure you've heard, is that the "gov't" gets to decide who has guns. Not good of the gov't is headed toward corruption. Additionally, the argument is that this creates public record of many of the guns. Bad if a gov't headed for corruption wants to take those guns or of anyone else wants to search freedom of information to learn who has guns and who doesn't.

That's exactly why they want them. In case of a military style firefight.

So anyway, more in line with Randy's theme in the creation of the thread. The Colorado State Governor announced yesterday his plan to seek funding for something like 28 mental health centers in the state.

Having several real LEOs, EMTs and ex military here who see shit like this in short periods of time that most of us will never see in a lifetime or even ever. Randy is spot on. ...and this does not include TV.

Probably an equal number of green cross oufits opened too. What would be really cool is that they might be next door to one another. I hope your Governer doesn't piss off the good ol boys that canonized R. Raygun when he shut down all those clinics in an attempt to prove that trickledown really worked. We are now awash in trickledown.

Tink said :That's exactly why they want them. In case of a military style firefight.

Thanks for missing the point and good luck taking on the Government, which by the way has the ability to drop a 2000 lb penetrating bomb on your location accurately.

How a AR-15 can compete with that is beyond me.

Yeah John451, Rainbow7 is a great example of someone who sucks on the information dick of Fox News in place of their own thought processes.

Great line about Brezhnev and Reagn by the way ;-)

Societies never remain the same. Ask the Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Chinese, British, Spanish, Germans, Russians, American Indians....

The only thing certain is that things will change.

Another side of the gun control, from the New Yorker magazine.

    Second Amendment Thoughts

Puts a couple of ideas, about the militia, and it being what it was thought to initially represent. However, we, as citizen of the US, think of ourselves as an militia if the need were to arise.

The thing you should worry about is that at least 50% of gun owners are below-average in intellegence.

I had one years ago. Went to a meet and found out I was a crappy shot compared to those guys.. The targets in those days was a square of foam plastic taped to a fence at 10metres. hung from a peg at the bullseye was a "well seasoned" chicken neck. This would attract yellow jackets..Bye bye bugs.. One Olympic Gold Medal winner was a young guy from India.. There are pistols in the recoiless area too. Veddy pricy..

Back to the general chat, The NRA has stepped up to the plate and is as usual , on target but only after putting thier Xmas catalog online.

On Tuesday, the National Rifle Association made its first comments after the Newtown, Conn., elementary school shooting.

WASHINGTON – The National Rifle Association said on Tuesday it wanted to contribute meaningfully to prevent another massacre like the Connecticut shooting, suggesting a sharp change in tone for the largest U.S. gun rights group.

"The National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters - and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown," the organization said in a statement.

It said it plans a news conference on Friday after staying silent as a matter of common decency and out of respect for families in Newtown, Connecticut, where a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at a school last Friday.

"The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again," the statement said. An NRA spokesman did not immediately respond when asked to elaborate on what the contributions might entail.

The NRA is one of the most powerful lobbying groups in the United States, partly because of its large and active membership. It uses political pressure against individual lawmakers in the U.S. Congress and in state legislatures to press for loosening restrictions on gun sales and ownership across the United States while promoting hunting and gun sports.

For decades, the NRA has opposed almost all new gun control laws and regulations at national and state level.

Its leadership considers the right to own firearms an essential American freedom, spelled out in the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and reinforced in a 2008 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court.

After the killing spree in Connecticut, the NRA has come under enormous pressure, some of it from pro-gun lawmakers allied with the association, including West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, a Democrat and lifetime NRA member.

Now all we need is for someone to translate what they just said into English..
