Tragedy in Connecticut

As I do most mornings these days, after breakfast, coffee in hand, I went into the livingroom, turned on the TV and before settling down to watch a re-run of something or another, I surfed across CNN and was sickened. A place of presumed safety and security. A place where children go to develope. Be cherrished and nurtured. An elementary school. I can't think of any other way to describe what I assume many children, and adults too, witnessed in Connecticut today. I am sure it was hell. 18 precious lives taken on the spot, and two more died later. ANd a few adult lives as well. Awful. I am just sick.

I have seen my fair share of sadness in my past career. I have seen what humans can do to another. This includes newborns. I wished those thoughts could be erased but they are there. But I cannot imagine what many of those kids and their care givers saw today. Even though I have been one of them, I cannot imagine what the first respoonders are going through right now. They will for the rest of their lives, remember quite vividly, what they experienced today.

I am not an overly religious man but my thoughts and heart goes out all of those involved.

God bless those young innocent soles.

What can anyone say in the face of this unimaginable horror? My heart aches for the victims, their families and for the family of the perpetrator. All their lives have been shattered by an act of one mad man.

 

The things that gets me about the whole thing is that it was senseless - it did NOT have to happen. Bad things happen every day such as sickness, accidents, etc. that are horrible, but they are unfortunately part of life. This is not, which makes it harder for me to accept. No child or parent should ever have to go through this. My thoughts and prayers are definitely with them all.

Though it was worth sharing.

 

I have a two and a half year old little girl and I can't even begin to comprehend the pain those parents are going through. Makes me wonder how a person can get that sick in the head to do that to children. Makes you want to just cry. I guess are schools are going to have to have armed guards in every classroom. This gives me more of a reason to home school my daughter. God bless those victims.

 

I hugged my daughter yesterday realizing how special she is and how fortunate I am to have her in my life. She is 25 years old. They are never too old to stop being special.

Yes it is senseless. It didn't have to happen but in a way it is like a natural disaster. It is the product of a mental illness. No one can say that a person who is not sick could do these things. It cost him his life as well. It's just bitterly sad all the way down the line.

 

THANK the NRA for making things like that possible for any American lunatic !|

 

The gun debate is a soft target - a greater focus on mental health is the key... Parents need to stop being so damned busy, take the time to get to know their kids, listen to them, understand them, read the signs, bolster them when they are down, positively reinforce them on the way back up - basically love them like a parent fucking should...!!!

Take a step back people, I'd rather sit down to bread and beans for dinner instead of steak if it made the difference between my kids feeling they could confide in me, trust me to listen, believe in my ability to help them or recede into a pit of depression and ultimate loneliness... Our children are a product of the environment they grow up in, it is our responsibility to provide a safe, loving and understanding environment... That PS3 you spent 4 weeks of overtime on gives but a moments gratification, the love and bond between kids and their parents is an eternal cycle of gratification...

 

I feared this may turn into a debate. My hopes were that we all take a moment and think of how precious our own family is, and in your own way, give a few moments to honour the memory of those no longer with us, and to support those who have to live with what they witnessed. The 5 "W's" of this do need to be debated, sometime, somewhere.

WTF, were you watching football, basketball, baseball or other equally inane, vaccuous forms of popular time-wasting entertainment when this shit wuz goin down ? I am going to chime in here and say a few things I believe should be stated.

1. I have tussled with cursing god for some time now. do to the fact that i am 31 and my 30 yr old wife is cursed with stage 4 melenoma and will in most likely not be here in a year or two to help me to raise my 3 beautiful children. (if god is to blame and I will ask his WHY??? later when i meet him and see my wife again.) for now I have to cherish every moment like its the last because it might damb well be.
2. Guns are not to blame for the heinous acts people comit with them. (people today blame too much on outside factors and refuse look within.)

3. If there were more guns in peoples hands then people would think twice about doing heinous things with there own gun for fear of retibutuion.
4. Squirrelman you are entitled to your opinon and I will respect that but your comments seem to me like you might be the next to do a heinous crime. Whatever happened to make you turn your back on god remember this.......... he will forgive but never forget.......

I have many more topics I would love to touch upon. However I will end my rant by saying this......

MY HEART GOES OUT TO ALL THE PEOPLE AFFECTED BY THIS HEINOUS ACT.....

 

Such sad sad things happen to the innocents of this world, when this story broke I just looked at my 9yro daughter and nearly cried thinking she's nearly the age of the oldest of the children killed. My heart goes out to those poor parents and siblings that'll suffer this unnecessary tragedy the rest of their lives. :frown:

 

I think The Founding Fathers would really be pissed if anyone tried to take thier AK47s and AR15s away. I can see them now, dudes like Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson and that Button Grommet dude on TV telling folks that once this shit get rolling pretty soon nobody will be able to get a decent Claymore, Sarin or even unleaded napalm.
