Many "fuel pump failures" are actually fuel pump relay failures, so you need to try the bypass or measure resistance across the 2 pump wires, which, if it's infinite DOES indicate that the pump goes to the rubbish bin.

That pump is by no means unique to that bike and that year as it was used on a wide variety of Hondas and bikes from the other manufacturers over a long span of years, so possibly a smart salvage yard could supply a replacement.

One line drains the pocket around the filler cap of rain water or spilled fuel.

Pump relay is nearby the pump. Do the bypass to send power directly to the pump, then report back. Having suffered numerous relay failures, i've eliminated the relays on all my Hondas, permanently installing a jumper wire at the relay plug.

Some think it MAY POSSIBLY be risky due to minor conflagrational issues, but not Squirrelman !

    fuel pump test

find relay unplug from relay make a jumper wire plug into connector connecting the white wire to the black wire..might want to remove fuel line from carbs to see if it flows ,,if pressure is already built up pump will not work due to built in pressure regulator..if it doesnt work tap on it with a screwdriver handle..and or filter could be plugged also ..i jump the plug to pressure test carbs out of the bike before installing after a carb rebuild to check for leaks..gregg

I know a possible remedy for wacha got there !

Remove the black cover, grab the central shaft of the works (silver colored, about 5mm diameter) with pliers, then spary a bit of WD40 down into that area and pull up on the shaft about 1/8 inch to free it cuz it's stuck. Pull it up then let it spring back down a few times and that should fix it.

Another deal that fixes some pumps sometimes is cleaning the electrical points by dragging #600 or finer sandpaper through the gap to restore the surface conductivity and remove any corrosion.
