Well that's an epic find. My friend Dan also built a similar machine sans nitrous. He's gonna laugh his ass off when I show him that shit!!

According to few dudes who have VFR's with top ends off the charts, they may very well have one of the rare 180 hp VFRs too. ...and I thought I had the only one here ;)

Don't waste your time Badbilly. Get this ultra rare 1986 VF1000R, only 200 imported that year. Ran fine everyday before the carbs were rebuilt.

My wife just came into the room as I was looking at this. Mind you, she hates bikes and knows nothing about them. She says "you looking to buy another bike?"

I said no, just looking at this ad.

She says good. That thing looks like a piece of shit.

    I laughed.

I've actually seen this bike. I was driving down the street and I saw this bike coming out of one of the side streets, I had to do a double take. I only caught a few second glimpse of the left side and a mirror glance of the right as I drove past it. I wasn't sure if it was a VFR but know I know for sure. Not my cup of tea but to each his own. Yeah, without any fenders, I hate to see what the back of your pants/shirts look like, even on dry runs! Don't drive over any newly tarred roads, that's for sure. He probably cruises up/down PCH on the weekends, more for looks than anything IMO.

I want to know what is up with the prices they want for these things? Is this a collectable bike? This is a typical Craigslist ad around here.

    1986 Honda VT1100 Shadow - $3200 (Mansfield)
I've had the talkers for sure but no CASH... Make me an OFFER.. Show me the CASH lets talk..

1986 Honda Shadow VT1100 Barn Find!! This bike was stored for 8 years in a barn in north TX after being in a garage all of its life. It was loaded into my truck brought home and meticulously gone through. This is perfect example of how a stored M/C could look after being cleaned and brought back to life. 11079 original miles, 5 speed and runs great. I will be back to add a video link later. I have a Texas title as it's currently registered. I also have the original owner's manual, some documentation and service records. Best I can tell I am the third owner. NOTE: to the savy Honda Shadow nut, the back rest is missing. Yep the first owner removed it and replaced it with an optional hand bar and I don't have the upright backrest. It can be obtained online if you want total originality.
    Whats new:
    Battery
Fluids: Hyd. Clutch, Hyd. Front Disk Brakes with DOT 4 and engine coolent
    Thermostat
Sub tank has been removed - cleaned and coated with POR 15 as it was varnished with surface rust. It was however solid. Now it's restored and perfect. Top tank is clean, no rust.
Fuel filter ( with a spare)
    Air filter (serviceable)
****** NOTE: Tires were ordered but the front tire back ordered.... so they are on hold right now.
    Spark plugs
    Carb rebuild kits (installed)
    New clutch case gasket
    Oil and filter
    Turn signal rubber supports
    Clymer Service Manual

    The old:
Most of the bike! IT'S original and un-restored! BUT this bike is super clean
the clear coat on the wheels have slight marring due to age not scratches
    Original seat with NO tears
Original Paint with a couple small MINOR marks on the tank. (no dents)
Two of the marks on the tank are due to the Memphis Shade wind screen that was installed previously (not shown) but is included in the sale.

Just a quick look in CL came up with a shitload of Shadows in the DFW area. Seems like you could get a handle of the value from that amount of info. The questions might be since this is sort of a VFR oriented BB who gives a real shit about underpowered cruisers that are likely too small for you anyway.

First thing would be to do your homework, call the owner and then go and take a look at the bike if you really want it or to find out if the price is right. There are several sites for Shadows and of course the various "bluebook" sites.

What we can assume is that the Shadow being a mini clone of a Harley, one would outlast the HD about 10:1.

1982 Honda CB900CNot the "Worst" ad by any means, but I thought it was funny...

    1982 Honda CB900C - $1200 (Wellington)

"It's not exactly pretty, but if you bang on it with a wrench for a couple of weekends every winter, it'll probably keep running until the heat-death of the universe. No, seriously, it's a tank. The only reason I'm selling is because poor character judgement can occasionally have extraordinarily disproportionate consequences and lawyers are expensive.

Did a valve-shim job a couple winters ago and have barely put any miles on since then. The battery is slightly younger than that, the oil was changed a few month ago, and the tires probably have a few thousand miles on them. Have never had any trouble starting it as long as the battery was somewhat charged.

It does have a few scratches, dents, and brown, or, uh, rust coloration, definitely needs new fork seals, and the handlebar switches for the blinkers and horn could use some attention (this is evident by the fact that the blinkers and horn currently do not work, though the blinker thing is fairly recent). The front brake reservoir, which is a poor design to begin with, has been re-engineered with JB Weld. Trust me, it works better this way, even if it looks janky as hell. Though if you're riding a bike that may or may not be older than you are, a little "janky as hell" probably adds to the credibility of the whole experience.

Instrument cluster was replaced a while back, so the odometer is incorrect. I would estimate the actual mileage to be around 35,000.

Will include the saddlebags in the picture and a spare (as in, rarely used) medium helmet, as well as the extra valve shims and the Haynes manual. I also have a trailer and a ramp that will no longer be useful, and their addition to the sale is negotiable. Delivery is possible within a reasonable proximity to Fort Collins."

This same ad has appeared in several places as a Harley. Asking price was 12k.

Probably so. The clue was in the use of JB Weld, the glue that holds Harleys together.. ;)
