    Hey Guys,

Its been a while since I've been around. I bought a charcoal grey '08 VFR800 at the end of '08, and have only been able to put ~2,000 miles on it to date due to chronic back problems.

I can't take the shame of walking past her every day, and have decided its time to let her go. I figured I'd come here to ask your opinion on valuation of the bike.

Everything is original. I had the nice higher bar ends and factory tank bag system installed shortly after getting her home. She tipped over in the drive way, and has a scuff on the lower left fairing. I don't have any pictures atm.

I've checked Nadaguides.com, and they just show low retail and high retail of $5583 and $7307 as way points. Their valuation does not take into account mileage, just add-ons.

Can anyone give me an idea of a fair price to list the bike for?

    Thanks.

    Z

Kelly Blue Book has the value at $7000. What's fair can depend on many things. How much some else is willing to pay? How much your willing to it let go for? What's the real market value for your area? A good start may be to spit the difference for low/high retail from NADA, $6500 as a staring point. Look at craigslist in your area to see what others are listing for. If the going price for similar condition VFR's is $5500 then price accordingly.

Something you may want to consider if possible is wait till spring. You might be able to get a little more going into the riding season.

Thanks. Thats a pretty good way to look at it. I live just south of DC, so 1/2 the bikes on CL are hot, and another 1/3 are of dubious origin, and lack any kind of documentation, grossly suppressing value. It probably makes a lot of sense to hold out for March to try and sell the bike.

Another good time to sell is when people are getting their tax return money. Just a thought.

I really wouldn't expect you to get more than $5500 at this time of the year especially with minor cosmetic damage. You also didn't mention whether or not the bike has ABS brakes.
