This could be for real. Honda hasn't released anything "new" in the last number of years, but between last year and especially this year, they've got a lot of great "new" models. The CBR500R for starters that comes in 3 different flavors. How about the CBR250R, CRF250L and CB1000R? Or how about the fact that they now have an adventure bike line up? Things are changing. They're out of the rut and getting back to releasing bikes that people want.

And I overlooked the new GoldWing, CB1100, the completely redesigned CBR600RR and the totally revamped CRF450R. When was the last time you've seen this many new or redesigned models from Honda in such a short period of time?

Yea I still dream. I'll still have to see it. Just like the NR, I'm afraid it won't be available state side, ;) John will more than likely see though. then there's the price point, they best keep an keen eye on Ducati and Aprilia.

Honda and the rest except HD make bikes never seen here. Small displacement versions of popular bikes, work and basic transportation bikes, bikes that just would not sell here or sold poorly. ie The Yamaha SR500. Got me a new one for $1,425 OTD .

This aside from the touts in the MC press whining "we can't have one of those" , " so we are going to eat worms." Then magically the unobtanium machines of note appear at the friendly dealerships and all is well with the world once again and the dudes that dream up shit like that to sell bikes still have thier jobs..

Yamaha SR500's are very popular bikes to make into Cafe Racers etc, there is a custom mob near my work called Deus ex Machine who mainly use SR500 & Kawasaki W650s.

Still have mine. Very popular elsewhere in the world. Tons+ of aftermarket parts.

Not as "done" as that cafe job shown. Maybe next time round..

    36mm Mikuni
    White Bros full exhaust
    K&N filter
    90mm piston
    Big valves
    Ported and flowed head
    Suspension mods
    Bitsas from US farklemakers.

Most fun is telling the electric starter crowd I removed mine to save weight.

Even with the engine mods, this bike has never stopped or stalled or left me stranded. Including running out of gas..;)

The odd part is that the XR500's sold well stateside.

The Honda "street" singles did not do all that well here either. Good bikes too.

Apologies! Forthwith, I will scour the net for more rewrites on the "new" Honda unless you and nocaboy decide it won't sell stateside.

Sure looks good to me. I just hope they also make a affordable version as well. Otherwise it's going to cost 40,000 or more if it's anything like they did with the rc 30 or rc45. Either way I'm very glad they are going to build one so I can stop lusting after an aprilla.

Per my post earlier on this same page, they're guessing around $30K; which follows this articles pattern of about double the standard CBR1000RR.

I like the looks but not the price tag. I cannot see spending that much on 2 wheels.

You have to wonder how comfortable that bike is.

I think some of the Italian bike makers have it right. Build a basic bare bonesblike and then offer upgraded ones. I know Honda may be to big for that method. But I really think they need to offer a v-4 sportbike in the same price range as the cbr 1000rr. I think they would sell a whole lot of them. I know that would be a bike I could see trading my 5th gen in on one. Either way I see Honda dominating wsbk and whatever they are calling it here in the USA now.

Don't trade your 5th Gen in on anything. When it finally expires, encase it class and put in your living room. Just a suggestion.

I think your right about offering base & upgraded models of the same bike. Seems to work well for other manufacturers. If such a bike does exist or makes it to production $30k is unrealistic. Considering the economy is still in the dumper & a BMW S1000RR HP4 can be had for $19990-$24995.

25k will also buy a used Harley. A better deal , if what is wanted is price/lb.

Ain't a dude here IMO that is gonna pop or be able to afford one of the "race" models of this "new" "VFR" anyway. Maybe a gussied up version or after a certain period of time, a 3k header and can system or maybe even a mount for a small TV to watch those Oprah re-runs.

In racing terms, homologation has a meaning but for most of us mere mortals, homos and homies included, maybe the stripped down el cheapo model will just have to do.

If anyone gets one, if and when they appear, and if ya don't like it because it wont go a paltry 200mph and the farkles are not all made of unobtanium. PM me and I will make sure you never see it again. So help me Jesus.

Buying a Harley does not require thought, only money. ;)

If I could I would park it in the living room now. After my divorce I parked my Harley in the living room and the girl I was seeing thought it was so cool. Funny now that I'm married to that girl she doesn't think it would be so cool. That's okay I visit it often in the garage.

Well "If" Honda was smart they'd make competitively priced compared to the Duc and Ape.. but then we're talking Honda here, I'm afraid it probably will be a euro spec version not sold state side. They'd sell a boat load if they priced it for the masses. one can only hope.
