Just wanted to give you all a heads up about a new film that is slated to come out Fall of 2013. They are looking at doing a premier at Sturgis 2013 in an outdoor theater there. It is called "Why We Ride" and directed by Bryan H. Carroll, director of "Public Enemies", "Collateral", the Miami Vice movie and more. The producer is James Walker and I don't know anything about him. They are doing it as a completely independent film so they can do what they want and their goal is for it to be a modern day, updated "On Any Sunday". They know that movie can never be duplicated, they just want to do an updated version... coincidentally, this Saturday night, I went to Endurocross here and it was also "Legends" weekend and they inducted more members into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame. They honored Mert Lawwill at the opening ceremony of the Endurocross so I got to see him!!

Anyway, eight of us showed up for the filming and besides my VFR there was also a 1984 VF1000R. They had us all ride to Valley of Fire for the filming and they gave us each $20.00 to cover our gas plus $10.00 to cover the entrance fee to the park. We went up past Mouse's Tank and they had us go up and down some twisties a few times so they could film. The speed limit through the park is about 25, and I don't really know how fast we were going, but we were having fun, that's for sure. Some runs were just individuals spaced out about 20 seconds, and others were the whole group and then a couple in two groups of 4. We moved back down the road as they setup and different areas and filmed us riding. When we got to where the ranger station is, a few bikes went, then I went and I had a Ranger behind me with lights going. I pulled over in a turnout and he said, "You aren't supposed to go over the speed limit." LOL!! He asked why I was going so fast so I told him I was just helping out a film crew. He asked if we had a permit and even though I was pretty sure they didn't I told him I didn't know, I was just helping out. One vehicle with the crew was in the pullout so he asked if they were part of the filming. They said yes and he told them to come with him and told me to stay there. Later, another ranger came up and told me to come down. They got it all straightened out, I wasn't going to get a ticket, they were just going to escort us all out of the park. Once out of the park, 5 riders had to go home but three of us stayed. The two VFRs and some other bike... :) We did a little more filming in the straight areas and... I'm not sure, but I think their purpose was merely to record the sounds. They kept talking about how they liked the V-Four sounds....

After we were done, they wanted us to hang out with them and they bought us dinner. We got to hear some of their stories and they got to hear some of ours. They didn't do any interviews or anything, but... if you get to watch the movie and you see a 2007 Candy Glory Red VFR whose rider has a jacket with skull and crossbones on the front and 13s on the shoulders and back.... well, that's me. The guy on the VF1000R is Warren. At one point when most of the riders weren't close, one of the crew told me "That was some pretty good riding." I said "Thanks." The Director, James said, "Oh yeah, you are definitely going to be in the movie." They kept talking about how they loved the red of my bike against the red of the rocks... the contrast. We'll see what happens when they finish with all their filming and get down to final decisions. They also were at our Vintage Bike Night here, filming alot of the vintage bikes. Will be interesting to see if any of that gets in it. It was a really cool experience and I can't wait to see the final product.

As a teaser to get us to go, they had posted up a link of a trailer of what they have so far. There was nothing that said not to share it, so I figured I'd share it here. Looks like it will be a cool movie when it's complete.

Here's the linky: Private Video on Vimeo
    Here's the password: WWR1016

Enjoy watching and keep a lookout for the movie when it comes out. Also, keep your eyes and ears peeled in case they are filming in your area. They are traveling all over the country to get all different types of riding, so you never know.

Congrats movie star!!! Sounds as though the film will be more than just another "show and chrome" flick. Glad to see someone may be shining light on the "sport touring" side. Even better, two ends of the spectrum with a VF1000R and a 6th gen running together. I'll be sure to check it out.

Chicky, either the password is incorrect or they changed it. It didn't work for me. It could be because I'm using my iPad but I wouldn't think that would matter.

Yeah, bummer. I still have a tab with it open on my computer so I can watch it, but if I open up a new tab and try to go in, I'm blocked now too. Well, I'm in touch with the guys so if there are any updates, I'll keep you all posted. I will be starting as a contributing editor (volunteer) for the Motorcycle Sport Touring Association (MSTA) magazine and I let them know that, so when they are ready to push promotions they can let me know and I'll write an article about it. I'm really bummed, 'cause the trailer was really cool. They must change the password every few days to keep people from leaking too much info about it. Sorry... I will keep you all posted!

I am sure happy the producers have decided to go ahead with Chicky as the star attraction instead of Ed Kretz

(Los Angeles, California--June 28, 2012) Gnarlynow Entertainment will co-produce, along with Walking West Entertainment, the dramatic story of Ed "Iron Man" Kretz, the motorcycle racer who became a legend for his heroic and often death-defying races. A Southern California native, Kretz' awe-inspiring career began in the 1930's and carried through the 1950's. His popularity helped establish motorcycle racing as a bona fide sport. Kretz's career unfolded against the background of a compelling love story that played out alongside this dangerous and nascent sport. His legacy continued with his son, Ed Kretz Jr., who also drew attention to the sport, setting records and carrying on his father's passion for motorcycle racing.

The project has the full cooperation and consultation of Ed Kretz Jr. and the Kretz estate. Bryan H. Carroll and James Walker are employing a two-pronged approach for the story, beginning with a feature documentary, followed by a narrative feature. Production for the documentary begins on July 13, 2012 in California; Carroll is directing the documentary and Walker will produce. Delivery of the documentary feature is set for late summer 2013. The narrative feature will begin production in early 2013, and will be produced by Carroll and Walker. Carroll, whose producing credits include Public Enemies, Miami Vice, The Invisible Highway and Collateral, founded Gnarlynow Entertainment in early 2010 to create positive-message, personality-driven films.

    About Gnarlynow Entertainment
Gnarlynow Entertainment was launched in 2010 by Producer-Director Bryan H. Carroll, succeeding his earlier company BC Entertainment. The production company is based in Southern California.

Gnarlynow was created to gather emerging and established talent to produce positive, quality entertainment that motivates and informs. Producer - Director Carroll has a career that encompasses a wide array of credits in film, television and commercials, from Editor, to Producer to Director. He has spent his entire career in close collaboration with Hollywood's leading filmmakers in a spectrum of producing, creative, and technical roles. Among a long list of top talents, Bryan has worked with James Cameron, Joel Silver and Michael Mann, with whom he has shared key producing roles on such movies as "Collateral," "Miami Vice," and "Public Enemies" and the television series "RHD Robbery Homicide Division." His career is also marked with a deep expertise in emerging technology, making him an in-demand expert on the application of digital technologies on the storytelling process. Some of the movies on which he has led technology include "Titanic," "Collateral," "Ali," "Public Enemies", and have had profound impact on the methodology of filmmaking.

Chicky that is so cool. I wish the password worked, I'd love to see it. On Any Sunday is a great nich film. Now just think you may be going down in the annals of motorcycle star dome. Good job and keep us posted. I definitely want to see the flick.

Randy Betty White has a tv seriers called Hot in Cleveland. At the beginning and or end they show a big house that they live in in Cleveland. That house is my buddies 2nd house. It been in his wifes family since around 1860. Betty White and the other women were in Cleveland at the Rock N Roll hall of fame for a party thing for the show. My friend Pet and his wife was invited and they got to meet Betty White. Said she was a real ball bust, even at her age. They were thinking about visiting the house while we were working on it. So Pete tells her that theres a man lift (old yellow JLG lift sitting out front). Shes says to him "Ooo a man lift I like that". Still funny and going at her age. I think that's great and so his she.

The question now is who is riding Betty White?

In other Holyweed news..Ooops I mean Hollywood news, My fave ride would be Charlize Theron as "Furiosa" in the new Mad Max flick.. "Fury Road"

Max will be played by Tom Hardy not of the Hardy Boys..

Let us all hope that there will be motorcycles and cages and lots of blowing up shit, mayhem and not much feelgood and Max finding salvation on Google.

Yeah, it does look really cool so far.... they've got footage of the sal flats and the first mother/daughter/daughter to hold records at the same time. Theyve also got Sturgis, hill climbs and Repsol bikes. It's like a dance. They are single file and you only see one bike. Then it leans into the turn and there's Repsol #2 then it leans and there's Repsol #3, then it leans and there's the next bike.... and they do talk about Ed Kretz... first man to win Daytona back in the 30s when they raced on the beach... IN THE SAND!! His nickname is Ironman and the James told us that was the first reference to the name Ironman and technically the comic strip took its name from him. It really looks like it very cool movie so far... they are really trying to capture the essence of riding so non-riders can get an understanding of why their crazy friends and family members must ride. I will definitely update the thread as I get info and if there are any new trailers...

Soooo what your saying is..... I actually am one of the last ones to veiw that video....The code originally didnt work for me either at first but then I entered it a second time and it worked. It looked pretty cool. I would definately watch it at a theater. Its too bad that they dont want "to much info to leak out", but isnt that what a movie trailer is for???

Just like Chicky said it covers, basically, all motorcycle riding. It even has some scenes from the Isle of Man race. It would be pretty cool to go see it in IMAX since some of the scenes are pretty impressive. (Bonniville, Isle of Man, the Dakotas, some hilltop races) And a side note.....mom, daughter, daughter are pretty hot!!!!

This is very cool! I hope they include some of the crazy crap people do on ice, adventure touring, drag racing, customization etc. Oh and of course a blurb on Lenos turbine bike would be appropriate. Geez, there is just so much to cover...

So how did you enter the code the "second" time? Codes are both case and space sensitive. One error and it's bye-bye. If the owners changed the code it was likely for a reason. Maybe someone who was given the original code blabbed it to "friends" who in turn blabbed it to FOAF's and so on down the line until it starts showing up on Utube ect. The owners are spending big bucks and by coding are protecting thier assets.

Any facet of the "list" is on the net. Facts figures and even in most cases vids. This includes Bonneville, Sturgis, various hillclimbs, many Daytonas, The Isle of Man and the list goes on and even includes some MILFs and some interesting Mother/Daughter stuff.. sans motorcycles.

There are sequels to "On Any Sunday" out there too. Bruce Brown and crew shot many thousands of feet of 16mm film. Steve McQueen was picking up part of the tab. What hit the cutting room floor was saved and thus the sequels.

A little Kretz trivia.. Ed and his son Eddie built probably the very first shifter cart in the states. It was powered by a Honda 500-4 engine that was warmed over. They put some knobby tires on it and ran it around Ascot one night during the intermission just before the main. Eddie Kretz at the wheel.

It's a good thing those folks didn't graft a viffer engine into that Vespa. There would have to be an entire thread of whining, beating of chests and cries of sacrilege.

Note the use of Italian sign language at the end..;)

Plenty of oval track ice racing vids on UTube. The Russians and the Finns go real fast. Popular too in North Central USA. This is a link to some of the stuff some of the dudes in Seattle did for a few years. Most of the riders are members of WMRRA and liscensed road racers.

The course is basically a roadrace on ice.. Big cojones muy frio'

I received an e-mail from James and he said after Jan 1 they will be looking to do official promotions. Hopefully we will be able to see a more complete trailer at that time. Right now they are still filming and editing...
