This is a gorgeous bike. My blue 12 gets compliments everywhere I go. Personally I don't care what you or anyone else thinks. I bought this bike to ride. I know how great this bike is when I look down st the speedo and see 90 and the bike feels rock solid. Then after a 400 mile day, I stop at the hotel, take my bags off shower and feel like it was a 50 mile ride. This is the essence of this bike. You will never understand it unless you put the miles on it, not just look at it.

There are certain hoods in South Central and Compton where anything red or blue might not be the thing to ride.

Since I work for a dealership I get to sample quite a few bikes as I am allowed to take a shop bike on group rides and such. I have put a couple of hundred miles on the 2012 VFR and I really like it. My problems with the bike had more to do with a worn front tire and lower tire pressure making for a very slow turning bike at low speeds. I think the red is stunning and I love the faring. Honda paid particularly close attention to air flow so the heat exits behind the rider and the wind blast is routed around the same. I would never own one only because I purchased my 5th Gen for a quarter of the price and I love it. If I had the funds I would go for it. As for a black bike I really like the color. Nothing looks as good a a deep gloss black except in my case. I live on a white rock road and one trip is enough to cover a black bike in a fine white powder. Everyone looks at my bikes and shakes their head assuming that I don't take care of them because they are so dirty. Nothing could be further from the truth but in my case cleanliness is next to imposable.

As for turning heads, I was at the local Lowe's picking up a sprinkler head. Out in the parking lot, as I was getting suited up. Three people walked by and commented on how pretty my VFR was. They were all women. I guess Safety Yellow gets the looks.

Back in my BMW days this is what we used to tell customers that wanted to know what was so great about a BMW RS or RT. You can't take them around the block and think they are great. You have to go all day and they you won't want anything else. I feel the same way about my 5th gen. Comfortable, smooth and the same at 90 as at 70. I can ride all day. I even like the stock seat!

That's what kills me Isis sure it is a fantastic bike. If I could only have the power and technological advancements of the seventh gen. The looks of the sixth gen and it's undersea exhaust. And the gear driven cams of the fifth I would have my perfect bike. Oh and paid off like the one I own too.

I'm not talking down on it, the bike has some great features, some minor issues for being $15K, and there are people that love it and people that returned it to the dealer after a couple thousand miles where they languish.

Yep, a worn front tire thats low on air is a great way to ride a bike with 150+ horseys. Sounds like just the kind of outfit ya don't want to buy a bike from.. No matter the color.

It was my fault. I pulled it out of the line without checking. It was a demo bike with lots of miles. I though, "Man, the slow speed handling is a pig." Then I checked the tire. My bad.

I think the biggest factor with VFR1200F sales was price.

Wait a couple years and this site will be flooded with them.
You could still get a new RWB 07 years after they were sold.

When I bought my 2000 model they had a brand new '08 silver VFR on the floor. They finally sold it the same week. The problem with this kind of purchase is if you put 100 miles on it you now have a used '07 with all the depreciation built in.

If the dudes going through too many pair of skivvies are looking for a solution. Hotfoot down to a local HD botique for some Pampers with the bar and shield.

Yes and no. Sure, price was a large part of it but I also think that Honda simply didn't build that bike that V4 lovers wanted.

I kind of got the impression that Honda was looking to BMW for inspiration when they should have been playing their own game. Now the NC700X is pure Honda in performance, economy and price. They are going to sell a bunch of them. I don't know what the deal is with VFR sales. We love em but they are the kind of bike you have to ride long distance to really appreciate. I know from experience that they tend to languish on the dealer floor not matter which model it is. My feeling is they fall into a gray area between a pure CBR1000RR sport bike and ST1300 sport touring. Maybe if the new VFRs came with bags like the ST?

Yes, Honda were indeed attempting to take sales from BMW, specifically the K1300S-buying crowd. The problem with that was that BMW guys won't ride anything else and also the Honda simply did not have all of the electronic gadgetry that came standard (or even optional!) on the K1300S.

I have ridden the VFR1200 and I loved it but would I pay the same price for it as for a K1300S? - No way!

Dealers in Australia have been trying that. It doesn't work.

some neat technology on that bike and I'd sure like to try one some day.
