hello, i bought this bike 2 months ago without a motor, and put a new one in with the help of the clymer manual but there are a few things that i just cant figure out where they go. I dont know where the large ground goes,a wire that is broken off by the thermostat, and a tube that comes off the charcoal canister If you could help me out by telling me, and or taking a few pictures for me that would be awesome. thanks

the large wire looks like it might be one of the leads that go to the starter relay?

the other small wire would be the temp sending unit or neutral sending unit. On of them is there and connected in the photo but I don't remember my 500 motor very well any more.

Is the line on the carbon canister the drain? There is one hose that routes to the floor so fuel can't collect in the canister. I used to have a hose schematic for that bike but the photohost I used on my old 500 pics went tits-up :(

Good luck and welcome to the forum!!

Thanks for the reply. You were right about the large wire i thought it was a grounding wire but in actuality it was the old starter relay from the previous engine (that help with some routing problems i was having once i removed it). I believe you were also correct about the smaller wire being the neutral indicator I'm just having problems finding it haha. As for the canister i thought it was a drain at first as well but the hose bends in a way that leads me to believe it ties into something else instead of draining straight to the ground. Thanks again for all the help!!

Tink take a look at this and see if it looks correct to you. I belive its the neutral indicator wire that is misrouted to the top of the case but it supposed to be routed down beside the backside of the clutch case.
