I know its not the best. But it was a lot of money. And even though its black and plain I can add stickers later if I find a graphic/s that I like.

I have another question. Is the helmet suppose to look huge on the head?

well, nowadays helmets are fairly big if they truly meet DOT/Snell. They have to have a certain amount of crush zone (for lack of the technical term) to absorb the impact and save your noggin. I have been tryin a lot of helmets on the last few days. Have you looked at Shark? I hear good things, but they are high and weird looking to me. I still can't decide which one I'm buyin...

buy the most expensive, best helmet you can that fits you well. You want something comfortable. I bought the shoei x-11. Lots o' denaro but I have an expensive brain, so figured it was worth it.

I have seen those Helmets too at Wallyworld and by no means are they a lot of money unless that was a typo(and you meant to say it wasn't a alot of money). They are $75. Is that what you are saying your brain is worth? I wish I could afford a $500 - $600 helemt, but there are ones just as good for $150 and up. That will be a good starter helmet and, trust me, go try on some more expensive helmets and you will see/feel the difference. Also there are unseen differences in better helmets such as air flow and noise. If you absolutely need to buy one online, go try them at a store, then buy. But most good dealerships will match the best price you see online.

I seemed like a lot of money at the time. $87 was more that I was prepared to spend. But I also got a bottle of car wash soap too. Can't beat that. I seen Bell helmets online starting at around $150 and I got one from wallyworld for less. I like saving money.

A guy at my work that is a Yamaha Hog driver has shunned me for weeks. Today he says that I need to get some leathers. I don't want the ghey chaps that he wears but I think that I will look at the pawn shops and see what they have available for sport bikes.

Dude, don't go there......the chaps with a sportbike. It's just not right. If you want riding pants, get some Kevlar reinforced jeans or something. Let the cruiser boys keep their chaps! I wouldn't touch em even if I did ride one.

I am not using cheap gardening gloves. They are yellow dish washing gloves... J/K. Going down isn't fun and I am with you that I need the best. But if I find the best for less like some riding jacket or riding pants I think that I should at least until I get some more money. I have to much tied up in other things right now.

Yeah big difference between a leather jacket and a motorcycle jacket. If you hold a regular leather in one hand and one made for riding then you will feel the difference. I'm not trying to be a dick but riding gear and wall-mart shouldn't be in the same sentence.

Like the others i agree that you need to have the best you can afford. Personally at the moment my riding gear consists of a Belstaf Airstream armored jacket, Bell Lynx Modular helmet, Dakota work gloves in the colder weather and BDG Work Gloves in the warmer weather. (Havent found any Icon gloves that fit yet..) As for foot wear Currently running some Kodiak work boots. But what im stressing here is the fact i bought all that for under $600. It was the best i could afford at the time. The jacket alone was worth $300. ( I belive its refered to as a Balistic jacket or something like that) The helmet was $140 (picked it up at Canadian tire just because i couldnt wait to get riding). As soon as i can afford it Im upgrading to an HJC or Icon Helmet.

I don't disagree with this statement based pretty much what Wallyworld has done to the quality of other product lines to get the prices down (think Levi's). Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there at least a time when Bell made top notch motorcycle helmets? I had a Bell Star back in like 1979 and as I remember it was one of the better helmets available at the time.

I was a big fan of Bell hats beginning back in the '70s, in fact my last Bell, an M2 in Eddie Lawson Marlboro GP colors, is sitting on the shelf above my desk as I hunt and peck. This was a top of the line lid when I bought it. I usually get a new helmet every 3-4 years, and when it came time to replace the Bell M2 I happened to try on an Arai Quantum......I haven't been the same since! It's all about the FIT!!!

Buy the BEST riding gear you can afford!

The chickie at the Mini Mart asks, " Isn't that helmet and leather jacket uncomfortable when it's this hot?" I reply, "No, skin grafts and skull fractures are uncomfortable."

    I agree 100%

I often get asked the same question during summer. My standard reply is: "I'd rather be too hot wearing this gear than not be wearing the gear and have an accident."

I haven't ridden in the 90's yet. But I get cooled off a lot just from the wind. I find myself wearing a full coat when everyone walking is wearing shorts and the AC is on.

I'm springing for one of those cooling vests that you soak with water this year. I have soaked my shirt ,helmet, and jacket very well before a ride in 100+ temps and it's all dry ten minutes later!

As for those, "Is that gear hot/uncomfortable?" questions, I surprisingly haven't been asked that yet. I'll be sure to use the skin graft answer! LOL. Funny.

I returned the old helmet. It was to small. But I got a new and I think that it will work for now.

DL - How old is that helmet? Shoei lids have a sticker inside them with their production date - at 5 years, they are ready for retirement.
