I bought a '01 this last spring, and love it, but i was thinking of making some small changes this winter. The bike has a zero gravity double bubble, but i dont like how low its is. the wind hits my shoulder to low. So my quesiton is does a stock windshield hit the soulders higher then the double bubble? Thanks Tim.
What would be needed to know is how tall you are. 5'2" and eyes of blue or 7' and a walkon for the NBA.
Well i'm 5'11'' . but i allready know i dont like how low the double bubble deflecst the wind so i'm just wondering if a stock one deflects the air higher?
A windscreen that directs the air pressure to the mid torso especially on a sport or sport touring bike is ideal. The pressure of the airflow essentially takes the weight off one's wrists at speed. While I sympathize that you will not become a candidate for midget wresling or hoops for either the NBA or ABA, the minor differences in where the mass of the airflow on any given windscreen that is stock or a stock appearing fitment is going to be really difficult to calculate. There are some sources for fitted lips that claim to eliminate some of the flow by curvature and deflection but to say for sure that any "regular" windscreen is going to do the job you are seeking is going to be subjective at best. (IMO) Screens of different configurations are tested somtimes. Other times they are just engineered using standard data. Other than Moto-Guzzi who at last look use a real wind tunnel for testing, I am confidant if you will speak with someone in the engineering and design department of all but Honda. (we do not speak with the Gods as lesser beings) these regular folks who crunch numbers might be able to shoot you some decipherable data. A little test by applying some droplets of a mixture of kerosene and one of the dry pigments ususally carbon black to the out side of your screen then going out and doing some runs will indicate a patten of airflow and possibly subsequent directive. You might want to take a look at one of those bigass screens that look like they came off a Harley and just tuck in behind that. Or in the words of bluesdude Jimmy Reed (rip) "You aint so big, you jus tall, thas all."
