along the lines of jethro but a different idea is to go with cycling shorts. they are made for long trips and have a little padding. they also keep the boys up close so you don't squish them down the pants leg. nothing hurts quite like a pinched penis.

My current one-day record on '09 VFR is 1300 miles. I've done 700 miles on it probably seven or eight times. It depends a lot on how much you ride. If you do 700 miles cold, having not ridden much lately, you're gonna be hurting. Ear plugs are an absolute must for a trip that long; without them, your brain will be fried halfway through the day. The advice on shorts/underwear is good as well, though I have done my long days in plain old boxers and a pair of carharts. To be fair, I'm only 31 now, and these long days were mostly done in my late 20s. The type of road you're on matters quite a bit too. Doing a 300 mile stretch on I-5 at the end of a long day of riding can be difficult for some and you don't want to risk dozing off.

Alot depends upon the weather, as adverse conditions will drain your energy quickly.

Do it. I did Atascadero Ca, to Bellingham Wa in 24 hours (1092 miles). Sure I was a bit stiff. Advil is your friend as is Caffein tablets or similar, readily available most drug stores off the shelf. Don't wait for the pain to take the Advil. Take it as a precaution. Doing this once in a blue moon certainly won't hurt most people. And don't just stop for gas. Go for a walk around the parkinglot there too. Kick ass Doug. I am not as old, but nipping at your heels.

When you are riding at highway speeds on your bike with a full face helmet, shit, yoiu can sing at the top of you lungs all the way there and back and no one gives a shit. Who will hear your off key notes. You can pretend to be Elvise, or Beber....Cher for that matter....no one will know.

Is this some weird Canadian thing? The full face helmet is a good idea though. Not so much for the closet Karaoke set but catching a bigass grasshopper in the mouth doing a Bette Midler, might be somewhat distasteful.

The ride might not kill you, but sticking around to see how far this thread goes, may.
