Been thinking about picking up another bike, a 2007 VFR800 Anniversary Edition with ABS. I'd like to find one with OEM hard bags, aftermarket exhaust, Corbin, and maybe a Throttlemeister setup, though I can add that if I need to.

I'm in SoCal, but it really makes no difference where the bike is. That's what they make planes and trucks for.

If you got one you'd like to sell, or come across one @ your dealer (worst case scenario, as far as I am concerned) or see one on CL, drop me a line, yeah?

Is ABS a must? And how about all the other extras? If the price was right, what could you do without, then add on later on your own? Just so we know the over/under on what you want.

One other thing that you will more than likely need is a Power Commander to clear up the FI issues. I added the OEM hard cases to mine last year and that was a huge improvement - I should have done it sooner. I'll keep a look out for you.

Yeah, even though I've never ridden/owned a bike with ABS, I think I might give it a try this time around if possible. I could do without all of the other stuff, if the price was right, and get them on my own. Right now all of that was a sorta wish list on it. Most of them I've seen, non-ABS, anywhere from 5k to 25k miles on them (an acceptable range to me for sure) pretty much stock, with or without the OEM hard bags, are about $5k-$5500 on ebay and CL. Sure, folks ask more sometimes, but the sweet spot for Buy It Now's are $5k-$5500 or so.

Issues? Stumble? I'm assuming the PC is needed only if I pick up one with aftermarket pipes, huh?

Wow. Just noticed your stable is a bit thinner now. Guess the Ebay sales went thru OK and you got what you needed out of them? Apologies if you've already covered this here somewhere else.

That would be a good assumption but no, the PC actually helps with some issues that are built in from the factory. Of course it is also good when you start changing pipes and air filters etc.

    Just for reference,
My 07 has a BMG filter, PC V with autotune module and a set of Two Brothers pipes. I have to say that it is the nicest running 6th gen I have owned.

Yes, I finally let go of the 750 and 1000. The 750 had only been ridden once in the last 7 years and the 1000 was only out once in the last 4 years. I couldn't bring myself to ride them in case something happened. Also, since converting my '07 to more of a tourer, it is so comfortable and rides so well, I really had no desire to ride the older bikes anymore. In addition, I've got 5 dirt bikes in the stable and I'm running out of space .....

Jethro already covered it, but yes, you will want a PCV installed on the bike. The FI hesitation and stumbling is horrible even with the stock bike. I lived with it for 5 years before getting one last winter and I wish I had done it much sooner. The bike is light years better and far more rideable.

And Honda released it like this, with the stumble and the hesitation, right outta the box?

Nice job, guys. Wonder what the official "excuse" was for this idiocy?

Agreed. That's crazy money (as was the initial $11k, was it, when new?) for a bike that never sold well in the first place. You could buy new, out of the crate 07 anniversary models in 09 (was that when it was?) when HMC released that flood of them that they still had leftover. Drove the price down to around $8k new @ the dealer, IIRC.

No excuses, probably because otherwise the bike was amazing and we the public kept buying them.
