I took my fairings off tonight to test my R/R and strator, when I did I noticed 2 plugs under the coolant reserve that were unplugged and taped off.

Any idea what these are or what they go to?

Driver side, under the coolant res.

Not that I know of, I just bought the bike less than 1 week ago. Stock exhaust for sure, where does the O2 sensor plug in? I should be able to trace the wire.

I dont believe is has a PCIII, how does Honda wrap their wires from the factory? Most the harnesses look like they have been wrapped in electrical tape (at least when I compare it to the harness I see factory in my VW, Im new to working on bikes so it may be normal/factory). Ill snap pics of the wiring tomorrow when its light out.

There should be a male and female connector. They going together I will send you the link to the manual so you can read and connect them back together.

    Cool, thank you.

I think the other ends of these two connectors are wrapped in the electrical tape in the image, so I think I have 2 sets of plugs currently 'unplugged'

Do these bikes have two O2 sensors? Looking at page 2-29 of the manual, it says they are both O2... Pre-cat and post-cat sensors? Does the VFR even have a cat?

Makes perfect sense then. I wonder why they previous owner unplugged these.... The current ones are probably bad.... Not sure if there is a way to test those? I guess plug then in and see if the bike runs like crap?

They might have after market exhaust and pciii the previous owner probably swap back to oem prior the sale and forgot to reconnect the plugs. Go ahead and plug them back together it should run normal.

When you have them untaped, you might want to check if someone has installed the resistor O2 sensor eliminators.
If they have, you should see a couple of small resistors installed across a couple of terminals on the connectors.
Whether or not that is a good thing can be open to some debate.
It is necessary when a PC is installed, but I'm not sure about the benefits (or lack of same) without a PC.

Note: The link in the first sentence is not from me. It was evidently added by the site. C

Do you have an FI light on? If not I am guessing he has the 02 eliminators (the resistors mentioned above) installed. If they weren't, the Fuel Injection light would be on for sure.

The guy either has a PC on the bike or he did and removed it before sale as mentioned above. Check under the seat for a PC and if it's not there, I would go ahead and plug the 02"s back in.....

Yep, two resistors in both connectors. I removed them and plugged them back in, so far so good. Thanks for the input!
