I'm 20 years old and i just recently bought a vfr 750 with a few problems..
I let my younger brother ride my bike around the neighborhood and he ended up dropping my bike and breaking mid fairings and head fairings.
I haven't been able to fined ANYONE that sells these fairings for this year and model except this online company called Airtech.
To eliminate my issue of having to buy fairings I wanted to make my bike look like a streetfighter! Any ideas? I've seen some GNARLY vffers on this
site and i'm completely stoked to have this one armed swing arm bke! Also I'm mechanically inclined but i'm not all too familiar with bikes. I've been told
my starter motor has gone out. I bought me a new battery hoping that was the problem but it definitely is not. It'll turn over twice and that's all she wants to write.
I an push start the bike just fine though. So the question coming with this little story is where is my starter on this bike..HELP PLEASE!

welcome to the forum! Any more luck with your bike?

I have a starter motor off a '90 which is likely the same and I'd part with it cheap to save the ebay hassle.

Starter motors aren't a common failure on these bikes so make sure you check your connections and maybe try to bypass the starter relay as a test.

Also, check out the starter clutch. They are a common issue with cracking and can make starting the bike a b#+ch. Airtech is about all your find for aftermarket bodywork. Otherwise, search far and wide on craigslist and you may find someone willing to ship the bodywork. I did that for my 3rd gen VFR.

As far as going naked or streetfighter, good luck. It can be 10X harder to make a VFR look clean naked than it is just bieng patient and finding good bodywork. VFR's have a lot of crap under the fairings that can be hard to relocate/hide.

Either way, good luck. Search on here and you will find answers to just about any question you may have.

Guys, thanks alot for all of your insight! I'm going go go about making sure my starter IS the problem. I haven't had any progress with the bike recently since I've been really busy with school. How much for the starter!

Try Google images for pix of streetfighters VFRs and others. There are replacement fairing kits other than AirTech.. There are the Chinese made kits that are painted up like sponsored racebikes that do not generally get high marks here at least.

Tink is a straight shooter.. I'd check out that starter clutch first before buying a whole new starter. It's nylon and they wear.. About ten bucks for the part..as I recall. If your starter motor is spooling up then it's probably fine. Great wrenching advise here from some who really do it.

Lots of info on fairing repair here too.

Clearly Billy's been drinking and I wouldn't believe a word he says.

I'm sure I have the starter clutch too. Will have to dig them out of the box and do some inspection. I'm thinking $25 plus shipping for the both of them.

Hell of a deal for 25 bucks.. I figure if he doesn't need the starter motor it could be retrofitted with a muffin fan blade to keep that R/R cooled down.

BB no drinkee or smokie.. Used to.. Had a Harley once too and all sorts of other stupid shit I had to learn the hard way.. Perfection may be just beyond my grasp.

Starter one way clutch looks good. I did not take it apart.

I took the starter apart and cleaned it. Emery cloth to the armature and brushes. Spins nice and quiet. Not rebuilt.
