Hello all, I have had my VFR for 3 years now and LOVE it. What a sweet ride. I had a Hawk NT 648 before this and as I am sure you all are a Honda fanatic. I wish I had much more time to ride than I do. That being said my VFR is driving me insane right now. I cant figure out why the ABS light WILL NOT go off. Nothing I do seems to matter. I had Honda fix it at the end of last year and all was well until this season.I have a pretty sad garage. So in the winter I remove the battery and trickle charge it for the winter. Yes I take off the charger every now and then .I replaced it in the spring once the roads were usable. It has been a thorn in my side since then. The light has flashed almost every time I ride . I stopped for say almost three weeks mid summer but is back at it. I really would love to not pay Honda to fix it AGAIN. Am I missing something when I replace the battery? Is there some reset I am unaware of? I am at the end of my rope on this one. Times like these I miss the simplicity of my old Hawk.

Is it you ABS light or the EFI light. The flashing EFI lights signify an error code and can be reset once the error is corrected. Off hand, don't know how.

If is is the ABS light, will it go out once the bike is set in motion? If so, this appears to be normal on the 6th gen anyways. Mine has always done that but like I said, it goes out once the bike is rolling a bit. I have just shy of 100,000 miles on it with the ABS light being like that and no issues that I can attribute to this light.

Have you done any checking to see if maybe something is visually/obviously wrong?? Check the reluctor ring for cracks, damage, or debris buildup. Check the sensors to make sure they're tight and not covered in debris as well, enough road crap built up may be interfering with the signal and causing an error in the system.

I agree with Metallican525 with regards to cleaning the area where the ABS sensor is. I had the same problem with my 6th generation VFR for a little bit. I washed the bike the best I could focusing on the pulsar ring and sensor. After that, the light went off just when the bike starts moving a bit. So my point is that there may be some debris that you cannot see even though the area looks clean.

Understood numb nuts, the ABS light will flash a code indicating the failure. 2 to 14 flash's are possible.

Had a woman named Wendy something or another, flash me somewhere back around 1978 when I was still a rookie. All that meant was that she was off her meds. I guess you could say she was short curcuiting somewhere. This was at the front counter of the RCMP Detachment of all places. Took her right to the hospital I did. Nakid as a jail bird. Back to the real subject now.........
