    Yep, normal to get very hot in that area....nothing to worry about!

    The cooling fan comes on at 105c. So you haven't even reached the "hot" point yet. Have to assume that with a hot metal engine 2 inches away from your battery, things are going to heat up.

    No worries. But if your bike spontaneously combusts, don't come back and blame me.

    Thanks. I am going to try and wrap the rear exhaust section in the heat insulation tape to cool things down a bit :) also need a chain tool very soon.
