The entire electrical system shutdown while driving on the HWY today...The battery is 2 years new...Holds a charge...but there is no power anywhere on the system... I am not familiar with the electrical system... The shop manual does not speak to this problem...WHere do i begin checking the system?

Check your voltage regulator on the right side of the bike where the seat is. You have to remove that side of the fairing to inspect. Dollars to donuts :homer: your R/R is fried too. Starter relay 30 amp fuse sounds like it could be fucked too. Anywho0...Keep us posted

30 amp fuse is a snap to look at because its under the seat to the left of the battery as you stare down from the left side of the bike.

    Course of action

The 30 amp fuse worked! but the connector melted... I am inclined to believe that there is a major issue here... and replacement of the electrical wiring may be the key to avoiding any further breakdown.... From your experience with the VFR electrical system what is your course of action?

So, what me did was to get a new starter relay, cause at this point it is fried. I cut back the bad wires and soldered on connectors along with shrink tubing...You could get a VF-Ness or something too, just telling yah what me did to mines...The R/R was toasted but the plug was still good, current unit is doing its job (not very glamorous) what else? check your stator plug, its three yellow wires connecting to the harness, they go to your R/R...I did away with the plug from it to that...those are basically the three weak points of the bike imho...cheers and gud luck. make sure you have a up to snuff batteria too....
