So I am kind of thinking about getting a PCIII USB for my 2000 VFR and I have a couple questions...

    1) What is the general consensus on a good place to order it from?

    2) My Bike currently has a Staintune slip on and stock airfilter and I intend to keep it that way. Not planning O2 eliminators but is that something that should be done too? Will I see any gains from this unit in the form of better drivability? I am going to get a dyno tune if I do it. I Really want to get rid of the flat spot between 4-6K at normal acceleration.

In any case, convince me it's a good thing to do :)

    To answer your questions...
    1. You'll find these almost anywhere. The typical reputable vendors are... Motorcycle Superstore, Revzilla, Sportbike Track gear. But if your looking for saving money, Amazon, eBay, etc.
    2. In order for the PC to work properly, you'll need to use the O2 sensor eliminators and in order for the Dynotune machine to work properly, you'll also have to remove or disable the PAIR valve system.

I put the PCV on my '09 and used an "off the shelf" map and it took care of the flat spot. However, I do plan on getting a "proper" Dynotune but I have my eye on other items at the moment. Right now, since I do not have it custom tuned, I am suffering from less MPG, but I am OK with that for now as the flat spot was more annoying to me.

    Cheers

Ok, so it sounds like 02 Sensor eliminators are needed (although not a must unless you are changing the curve in the "closed loop area"). I am ok with the bike under WOT it's the part throttle stuff that I think the PC would bring the most benefit from - tthe normal street driving conditions. However, I am trying to understand why the PAIR system would have any affect on a Dyno run? That should not come into play at all.....

The long story short is that the PAIR injects fresh air into the exhaust and has an affect on the Dynometer reading. If you do not plan on getting it tuned, then I say no worries (IMHO). I did talk to DynoJet and a couple of Dynotune shops, all have said the PAIR valve must be removed or disabled in order to tune it accurately.

    Cheers

Makes complete sense...that would definitely throw off the A/F reading to the wideband 02 sensor.

I know the dyno is the way to go but is the PC worth it if you run a preloaded map? I honestly don't want to get into disconnecting the pair valve system.....

It was worth it for me. I also didn't want to deal with the PAIR valve at the time I bought the PCV, but ultimately I will as I want to get the PCV tuned proper. Not sure what maps are available for the PCIII but there were at least 5 different maps for the PCV, mostly for aftermarket cans and air filter differences and of course the stock setup. If I remember correctly, the PCV will work on other older models, but it is not officially "supported" (for the lack of a better term) by Dynotune, I just don't remember how far back the compatibility goes. It might just be for 6GEN. (2002-2009). I'm sure others who have the PC installed will chime in soon.

    Cheers.
