    Hi Folks,

A while back I bought an excellent 6000K dual-intensity HID kit for my old Seca II, and since then was determined to upgrade my every vehicle with HIDs. Unfortunately, the people I bough that original kit from (EFX) no longer make/sell dual-intensity kits, and that for me is a bit of a deal-breaker since I need good high beams to see around corners in the mountains without blinding everyone on the road.

Since kits can be very hit-or-miss ordering online, I figured I'd ask here. Has anyone here had good/bad experiences with specific HID kits that they can share? I'm really looking for a good dual-intensity kit of 5000-6000K color temp and good high beams.

Also, regarding the light sockets on the 5th gen VFR, will I require any kind of special adapter or modification to make a standard H4 HID kit fit?

DDM is good price life time warranty. Quality ok
Philip better but pricey....You do need a hi/low kit for ur 5th gen
Be advise they are bulky and need a small hand to install without removing the front faring

Long was kind enough to do my HID and it is one of my favorite mods. I have done the high low version and it is a bit of a pain to say the least.

I expect to take the fairing off anyway since it's necessary for proper wiring and grounding of the conversion kit. I've successfully hidden a dual-HID kit on a naked bike before, so stashing it under the fairing should be a breeze by comparison.

I looked at both the DDM and Philips, and the price difference is... close to 500% for 2 HIDs? What exactly makes Philips better to justify a cost like that?

The DDMs are way cheaper than I was expecting, though, so I guess I can't complain too much. Do you know if it's possible to run the 55-watt kit on this bike, or will I over-draw the regulator-rectifier? 35W should be enough I would think, but I'm curious since I saw that as an option for the kit.

I think 55w on a bike is a recipe for disaster...

Halogen reflectors, at best, do an ordinary job of focusing light from HID bulbs and glare is a common side effect due to the fillament(halogen) producing a cylindrical arc and the HID producing an ovoid arc... Re-aiming the light from a 35w HID kit can overcome some of these glare issues but it's almost impossible to reign it in with 55w kits... With a bike having a natural propensity to dip and raise the front with throttle action, glare minimisation is almost impossible at the best of times...

In my opinion, the only thing a 55w kit will 100% achieve is to piss off every single driver coming toward you., day or night...

I only use 35w some other use 55w but need a harness and relay to run direct to battery
DDM do carry this item under accessories. Philip better with quality wiring and connectors. Big difference :) like I said DDM Will work fine if you on a budget.

You need a projector unit if you don't want to be a total dick, I doubt any of these cheapy drop-ins include a projector.

I have DDM on my truck and VFR. No issues. I retrofitted projectors in my low beams.

DO NOT GET "NOVA" brand HID's. I have them on my bike and truck. They also have a lifetime warranty, but CVHrist. I have replaced the ballasts on thsese things at least four times in the two years I have had them. To be perfectly honest, if I were to do this over again, I would not go HID. I would get a set of Pia ;ights. I know htey are expensive, but they are bright, clear and they don't need to be warmed up.

Hey, question about those DDMs. Is their hi/low kit legit dual-intensity HID with solenoid operation? or is it one of those cheapo sets that just uses a halogen filament for the high beam? I ask because the picture they provide isn't a hi/low kit, at least not of the former type.

I'm probably not going to go for projectors just yet. I have other projects I want to complete first, and with the right HID bulbs and adjustment, this should be "good enough."

The Hi/Low from DDM is using magnet

    Replace Bulb Type:
H4-3/9004-3/9007-3/H13-3 If you car use one bulb to give both High and Low beams, that means your current bulb have two filaments, or we called it Dual Beam Bulb

If you need your high beam to work properly, then you should buy a Bi-Xenon HID(our model bulb-3) which gives you both High and Low in Xenon.

This high beam will work correctly and will point where you tell it to. Bi-Xenon bulbs usually come with 3 wires per bulb. They also come with a control unit that handles the low vs high beam.Bi-Xenon bulbs can move, so you can have one bulb to give you High and Low.

The bulb is actually blocked so that the beam is directed down while in low-mode. When the car's electronics are engaged and the high beam is selected a magnet moves the bulb so that it is no longer blocked and you get "high" beam.

The BiXenon bulbs are only available in: H4, H13, 9004 and 9007 bulb types.

Can not remember where I read it, but somewhere it is said that the Headlite assy for the S10, will work as a replacement / upgrade for the 1st gen. Interceptor.
I have been kicking this around since I got my bike, as my beater BMW has HID projectors & they are so much better then sealed beam style headlites!

I would check the mounting location and all dimension to be sure or you can just get a street fighter set up for your front end.
