So im buying a new slip-on for my 98 vfr800. A 9" delkevic! BUT the Carbon Fiber version is $60 more. What are the advantages of carbon fiber to stainless steel? Anyone know how nice carbon fiber pipe looks on a Red VFR, i have stainless steel now and i like the look.

    thanks

CF is slightly mellower tone (some hear no real difference) and WAY lighter.

It's really about whether or not weight and the CF look matter to you.

The entire can is not carbon, the carbon is only a wrap on a metal can. It is basically for looks.

NCB is this only with this particular can or is that industry standard?? I have a friend (with a different brand of pipes) that are carbon fiber and they are basically cool enough to touch as quick as you can shut down the bike and take off your gloves. A stainless pipe would burn the everlovin crap outta you. I would see this as a great advantage in passenger comfort and weight reduction if the can is actually CF.

I can't speak for the Delkevic, but the Micron I just sold off was a perf. inner with true CF outer and was WAY lighter than my ass kicking, rip snorting Supertrapp.

If the Delkevic is just a wrap on a metal tube, then get the SS.

It's funny this popped up now... I was just having the same debate myself earlier today. If NorcalBoy is correct about the Delkevics, then made the right call when I opted for the stainless over the carbon. Now I just need to get a nice little connecting pipe fabbed up and I can put the new 4th gen can on my 2nd gen. Here's to another Delkevic!

carbon is lighter (if you are racing) but stainless lasts better - carbon can degrade quicker (much much quicker)
