I wish I'd known about this forum and found out about --BOLT Motorcycle Hardware-- these when I bought my VFR. There were a couple of clips missing, and the two on the bottom were damaged. Plus I destroyed one on my first oil/filter change when I lost track of it and stepped on it. These suckers are $3.09 plus tax each at the nearby Honda dealer, plus the wait for them to come in. For $11 total I got ten of the Bolt clips, and they fit perfectly.

And yes, I do know how to properly remove and install the factory clips, that's not a problem; I hate paying well over three bucks each for them when these come out to $1.10 each

    True enough.

I'd thought of getting well nuts and screws, but decided to stick with the clips since I could find replacements.

There's also these I read of TR 240 - 25pcs. GM.Push.Type.Ret Works.on.Honda VFR800's.as well, supposed to work quite well. This is the 25 pack, also have a 100-pack if you need a bunch or want to do a group buy

They are slightly larger and make for a REEEEEALY tight fit, but they will work in a pinch or for a slightly worn out hole.

Thanks for posting, I'll probably order some for my bike. Never hurts to have some extras around, they may also work for my Honda cars too.

You can get "Bolt Fasteners" panel clips on line from Bolt Fasteners for the 6th gen at 10 for $5.00. I have ordered them for my bike as well. There are a couple threads here already that give the link. I have also rec'd their clips for the inner fender for my truck. Ever try to re & re the fuel filter on a GMC Duramax. You will need clips.

I found the holes in the plastic were wearing/stretching so I epoxy'd little steel washers behind them. Makes the clips "bite" alot better IMHO.
