    Hey guys,

Looking at buying my first VFR and found this 2004 nearby. In the photos it looks pretty good for $4,000 but wanted the opinion of you VFR experts. This bike has 26,000 miles and the owner claims he recently had all services done including valve adjustment. How many miles can a well maintained VFR reliably go?

    Thanks for your advice.

If you don't get 100,000+ miles out of a VFR I would be shocked.

Looks good and it has bags. I would buy it. Don't take too long mulling it over or it will be gone.

Grab it before it's gone! looks like there are few other extras on it too, Slip ons, GPS mount, quick release tank bag, side bags. NADA guides have 04's going for $4955/$5445(ABS) and according to Motorcycle Consumer News, MC prices are anticipated to increase...Summers is officially here!

I sold one this year with 122k on it and it is still running strong. I would not stall too long at that price.

You don't want that bike. Its junk. Tell me where it is and give me the sellers info so I can call him and give him a piece of my mind.

That's a clean looking bike. Jump on it. Bags are a bonus, and since the valves were done, that's probably a $500+ maintenance item that you don't have to deal with.

What was that sellers name and number again? LOL

It's got Heli bars too and the owners garage is clean and he even has a chunk of wood? under the kickstand. Buy it or it will be gone.

So, I went to see the VFR tonight. The Owner Jim is an awesome dude. Turns out he's a nuclear engineer and is extremely particular with his stuff and the VFR was better than I expected. The bike comes loaded with farkles including thrittle miester, sargent seat, OEM hard bags, ZG double bubble, Remus exhaust, GPS mount, spare set of wheels, tank bag, tail bag, factory paper Honda Service manual and new Pilot power tires. He agreed to $3,900....SCHWING!

Did I mention the Remus exhaust without baffles sounds sinister?

Thousands of questions to follow so I hope you peeps are tolerant around these parts :)

Saying that he agreed to $3,900.00 to me means that you bought it...Right?? As far as questions, ask away, someone here is bound to know a little something on VFR's.

Thanks for all the reassurances guys! I did in fact give him a deposit and will try and pick it up Wednesday. Right now the weather is terrible in Florida and many roads flooded in my area so hope things improve by tomorrow.

First question is the rear trunk rack.....What is compatible with the OEM side racks that are presently on the bike?

OK so I'm supposed to pick up the new to me 2004 tonight. I decided I needed to update my PC wallpaper and google images of a 2004 Silver VFR. I learn quickly that Silver wasnt an option here in the USA for 2004. It was for 2003 and 2005 but not 2004. I get the VIN# from seller(its definitely a 2004) and ask him about it. He states he is the second owner and bought the bike at 5000 miles(it has 26,000 now) and he also discovered the color issue and called the P/O and the explanation was the Original owner swapped plastics and tank with another guy back when the bike was a couple of years old. Plausible? I guess...

The bike looks extremely tidy and shows no signs of damage anywhere. Should I not let the color thing bother me or is this a sign I should pass?

Me personally? I wouldn't worry about it. I understand your concern, and it would have been nice if the seller could have told you that.

But I think its a plausible explanation, nonetheless.

Do they have something like Carfax for bikes that shows if it was ever in an accident? Maybe spending $30 for something like that will give you the piece of mind you're seeking.

I did do an Experian autocheck this morning and the bike has been local its whole life and no recorded issues. I guess this is my anal retentiveness in me to worry. My mom calls me a perfectionist when really I'm anal. :)

I'm thinking before finalizing the transaction I will again go over it with a fine tooth comb and give it a proper test ride. If all checks out I'll move forward I'm thinking.
