I live in Northwestern Missouri, and thanks to a really mild winter I've been riding my VFR quite regulary. I'd parked my ZRX1200 last fall (full of stabil) because the Conti R/A 1's were toast (white stripe on the rear!). So a couple of weeks ago, I mounted a new set of R/A 2's and fired up the ZRX, it stumbled a bit after 7 months sitting, but soon cleared up and ran as always......really good. These new tires now come with "traction skin" which means no more mold release, and good traction from new. Yes, I did test it out, a couple of good 45mph corners on my way to work, so with 2 miles on the new skins, I cranked in some major lean angle and rolled on the throttle rather aggressively. Stuck like glue! Anyhow, I started to comute on the ZRX, to give the VFR a little rest. WOW, i forgot what 80lbs of torque feels like! I'm geared 5 teeth up in the back (still can see 150+ on the speedo) so shifting is mostly an option above 35 mph. This bike is like being shot out of god's own canon! Traffic has no chance at all. I find myself twisting the throttle just for the rush of aceleration in top gear. Don't get me wrong, the VFR is plenty fast......if I rev it up, no need on the ZRX. I love to pass a group of cars, and once past, wing it up to 120 of so just to see them grow tiny in my mirrors. This thing is a green hooligan missle. I was going to sell this bike to my soon to be a Marine son, but I may miss it too much, we'll see, I sure he'll get it if he really wants it, but dang, I forgot how much fun massive torque can be! FYI, the VFR is still my favorite.

Up 5 in the rear? lol, its a stunting machine!

Its always nice to be able to mix it up - bikes, broads and booze all need variety.

The ZRX is geared waaay tall from the factory 17/42. It has the same gearing as a ZX1200 Ninja which is good for 180+, speeds a naked bike will never achieve. So, geared 17/47 at 10,500 rpm, theoretical top end is 161mph. I tried a top end run on a local deserted 4 lane a few years ago, with my LEO SIL radaring me and got to 153, still pulling, when I chickened out and backed off. I'm thinking 161 might be pretty realistic, though I doubt I will ever see it. BTW, I was tucked in tight, left hand on the fork leg, elbows & knees tucked tight. While heavy moving it around the garage, it feels like a big dirtbike the second it starts to roll. Needs some lower bars, and maybe rearsets to be perfect. If the boy decides not to buy it, that will be my next mods, for sure.

Short of a wild animal strike, I doubt I would have ate it, I went over the bike top to bottom before the run, and it had close to new tires on it, properly inflated. That LEO is my son in law, I'm sure he would haved mopped me up! BTW, I'm an AGAT type, don't leave home without it.
