My wife, oldest daughter & I will be in San Diego starting July 22nd, for my son's graduation from Marine Corps recruit training at MCRD, San Diego. We will be sleeping in National City, but are planning on doing some of the local attractions before "family day" on the 26th. Any suggestions for local eateries and bars that are of the "don't miss" kind? Also any sights of the same type? Where is the beach where people skate down the sidewalk and such? I'm getting pretty stoked, as I will be off for 2 & 1/2 weeks..... 1st week in S.D., 2nd week at home with the new Marine, then off to Wisconsin for a tour of the Sub Zero/Wolf plant and some serious wine & dining. Check out Old Town San Diego and the Gas Lamp district. We also did a Segway tour of Coronado Island which was very fun! If you like Italian food, Jack & Guilio's in Old Town is awesome. I'm sure some local San Diegians can chime in and give you the less touristy spots, but the wife and I enjoyed these areas when we did a mini vacation down there. Del Mar, Oceanside and Carlsbad are very close as well and might be of interest to you. Cheers
