I don't have any yet, but from everything I've seen all the frame sliders require boring a hole in the fairing panel where the VFR1200 decal is, so I haven't brought myself to do it yet. I'm sure there are front axle and bar sliders out there as well. I like bar end sliders and think they're worthwhile, but I've yet to be convinced that front axle sliders actually do anything worthwhile.
    MHO.

Thanks . I dont mind the hole in the plastics if it is done well, The over all return in damage control from even a minor tip over might be well worth it. It seems that it is usually the dumb things or minor mishaps that are most likely to happen. Kick stand sinks on soft ground, an error in judgement when parkng, etc.
What brands will work. Are some better than others.
Twisted throttle has an aero shaped set, but they are quite pricey, if I remember correctly about a $150.

$140 actually. A real bargain compared to the GSG-Moto sliders they sell for $299!! Although those don't require drilling your fairings.

I had plans to spend large quantities of money with Twisted Throttle for VFR goodies...until they pissed me off with some shitty customer service. I wonder how they'd feel knowing that I decided to buy my $800 Givi luggage setup from someplace else, just because they pissed me off. I'll continue to shop elsewhere now. Their loss.

BTW, you can get the R&G aero sliders from Solomotoparts.com for the same price but with free shipping. Yeah...they really shouldn't have pissed me off.

I know how you feel. Sony electronics did that to me years ago. I bought a monitor for my computer and the warranty expired by one day yes one day,I came home from work and it was frying not fryed but litterally smoking it was even turned off. The monitor was no good it was a $500 monitor. When I called sony they basically told me oh well your monitors warranty is over. Fare is fare and right is right . You need to take carer of your customers or they will go some where else. Sorry for the rant.

What shock did you buy? I'd like to go with an Ohlins, but the price is really hard to swallow. I can get a fully adjustable Penske for a LOT less. Probably the route I'll go. I know Ohlins shocks are the gold standard, just not sure I can bring myself to spend that kind of coin. Still gagging on the price of the Corbin I just ordered.

I didn't 'buy' a shock. It was replaced under warranty by the Honda dealer. Lots of Americans replace with Penske with no complaints, not on Aprilias anyway. My dealer has a fully adjustable Wilbers on his own VFR1200.
Personally I never got the Ohlins thing, they're almost never custom made, unlike all the others. I sold my Technoflex for lots of euros after 8 years. Wilbers used to be their importer and copied the Technoflex to sell as their own. Lawsuits followed, a divorce of the owners followed and Technoflex ceased to exist. Now Wilbers do their own innovation and have great customer service. My Tiger shock was a Wilbers and I had no complaints.

If you like I can set you up with the Aprilia Wilbers US distributor. But our forum racer/madman/ex-marine always uses Penske and he's a racing instructor. Look for videos on YouTube by Meanstrk and get ready to be amazed.

I had a Wilbers on my first FJR. Overpriced IMHO. Sold it and bought a Penske for the second FJR. Best bang for my buck.

That's not the first time I've heard that. Still, as the Honda shock retails at 1200 Euro (and then fails within 6 months), getting a custom shock for between 600 and 800 euro isn't too bad. The quality of the anodized parts on my Futura's Tecnoflex shock still is amazing after 6 winters of salt and 3 years in a damp garage. The spring is new btw. That part didn't have any powder coating left on it.

Just pulled my new VFR1200 out of the shop 4 weeks ago and am on the market for a set. Since my first crash with my VFR800 I have always fitted R&Gs and must say have had a chance to test them and they have always done wonders. Both for vfr and CB1000r. Downside is the vfr set has to go through the fairing but looked alright the reason is they fit directly to the engine bolts best weight holding. But on the 1200 it really kills the look so have not decided yet. I found an American option called GSG but it comes with a bracket that offsets the bobbin doesn't go through the fairing. So basically it's best protection vs looks your call. I'm till looking so will update.
