Anyone have any problems getting pulled over using a Competition Werkes fender eliminator or similar?

The plate looks tucked in and a little hidden.

most of the people i have talked to about it never had a problem. if you are having a problem then take your stock one that comes with the 6th gen bikes and take all of the plastic off and you see if you like that. i did that with mine and it looks alot better and the cops cant bitch. its not as up and in as the comp workes but it deffinately does the job. when you look at it you can see where it disassembles. there is a forum on here somewhere i will post later that explains how to do it if you want to research it but its pretty much common sense when you look at it

I've never heard of anyone having trouble with them either. And most of the people I know have some type of rear fender elim mod. I suppose if you were being a total ass and they pulled you over then they might throw that onto the list of charges, but even that I've never heard of.

No, I have not done a thing. I'm just researching the topic. I was just worried because I seem to be a Cop magnet lately going 5 mph over the speed limit. I don't know if it's the economy or what, but they are aware I'm there on every corner especially on the bike and even obeying the speed limit. I think I will give the competition werks fender eliminator a try.

It really depends on the cop I suppose since my friend has been pulled over and warned twice and I've never had any issues.

I've never had a problem with mine over the last 5 years and I've had cops right behind me. As long as you use the light on the plate (which installs with the CW eliminator) then it should be 100% legal. Your state may be different...

Agreed. I ran the CW on my 6th Gen for the last 5 years and never had a problem, even with cops following. Unfortunately, I just replaced it with the stock fender due to buying the OEM saddlebags.

Cops by nature are suspicious. States require that the license plates be mounted at the most rear of the vehicle and clearly visible. So by tucking it back, what are you trying to hide? Does this person have a MC endorsement, warrants? Is the bike stolen? Are the plates valid? And so on.

All you're doing is giving the cops probable cause to pull you over and detain you.

Arm yourself. I like rail guns. Short of that, look up the section in the Oregon vehicle code that addresses liscense plate display, run off a copy, fold it up and put it in a zip lock bag under your seat. Or if the LEO has computer access in his vehicle have him look it up to explain the stop.

LEOs are just like everyone else that claims perfect recall on every thing. It ain't about shit.

I see your point. Looks like your fender-less? I just ordered one last night so will see what happens. I'm going to check the vehicle codes and I if I get pulled over, I'll just have put it back the way it was.

Well, here it is. Looks great! If there is any issues with the cops I have some modification ideas.

That plate is really tucked in there.

Like I said, I ran mine like that for 5 years and never had an issue. I have also never heard of anyone else having an issue either. I would just run it as it is and worry about it only if you get ticketed.

Anytime the cops come up behind me, I just downshift, crack it open, and lift the front wheel. If you're doing a wheelie, they can't see your plate anyway. Plus, if you fold down your mirrors, you'll pick up a few HP while conveniently saving gas. License plates and registrations are for posers. That's my thoughts.
