Hi all! I need a new battery for my 1986 VF500F. I don't want to go crazy on price because I'm not sure I'm keeping this bike, but I also don't want a piece of junk. Anybody know a good sealed battery I can use and where I can get it?

    Thanks!

I don't know about a sealed battery, but my local Sears store always has them in stock and they run about $45.

WalMart probably sells the battery, and usually at the lowest price. Don't forget to bring the old one with you for the $5 core exchange.

    A medium-quality bike doesn't need a top-quality sealed battery.

YOU'LL almost never go wrong with a Yuasa.

The Wallyworld replacement for the 86 VFR was $36.96, brand name EverStart part #ES12AA. Only difference from OEM was the location of the vent port being on the left side, versus the original right side.

The Yuasa part # for OEM was YB12A-B (with rt. side vent)
The Yuasa part # for WalMart version is YB12A-A (with left side vent)

Was getting quoted $80 for the Yuasa brand.

I just bought the Sears Die Hard 12A-A battery for my VF500. I'm in the process of charging it now. I dislike open flooded batteries for some reasons but they are more tolerant to being abused than sealed batteries. I paid $49.99 after $5 core exchange not including tax.
